I went shopping today

because I had to return a pair of jeans that I ordered online and they didn't fit well.

While at the store (Loft) I saw a women trying on a cute jacket in the reduced section. She was going to buy the last medium petite. I tried the smaller size and although I could have gotten away with it, I felt the medium would be better.

The sale clerk called another store and they said they would hold it for me for 24 hours. On my way home I decided to jump off and go to the mall, where this other Loft was located.

When it was time to do the exchange (I picked up a few sweaters, while I was at it) they questioned the price.
It seems that this jacket was on sale only at the other location! They of course gave me the sale price.

This would never have occurred to me. It is very unusual for me to go from one store to another in one day, so I would never know if an item I liked was cheaper in the other store. I wonder what would have happened if I didn't purchase the smaller size?
