Need to get some more pills within the next week.

Just got a good buy on an OTC medication (glucosamine sulphate, to reduce joint pain by amplifying the ligaments or whatever is in the junctions between the ends of my bones, especially in right shoulder) so got a couple of large bottles ... and as I have more than a bottle on hand, can't see my way clear to die within a couple of years.

Was telling son the other day that, with several bottles of peanut butter on hand ... and a long way over a dozen of jam, I'm gonna have to live for quite a few more years to get 'em all used up. Since the approximately a pound one that I'm now getting to see the bottom of ... was opened in February.

So it appears that I'll have to stick around for quite a long time.

lisalu - do you have kids? My kids love when I bread and fry zucchini slices. They would eat them every day. Now, no doubt it is the breading and oil that makes them so tasty to the kids, but still - to hear "More squash please!" or "Mom, Monica's hogging all the squash!" is music to a mother's ears. You can make the slices fairly thick, and so a small zucchini (6 - 7 inches) could give you a handful of slices - The kids would happily eat up several zucchinis this way. You can also slice them into the egg/milk a day or two before, if you want to harvest several days worth of zucchini and then fry it all in one go. Marinated and grilled sliced zucchini is tasty for most grownups. It's easy. Well, a rainy day and time to get back to the forum. Thanks for the encouragement, all. Hi Mabel. West Paris is a pretty friendly place, judging from all the folk who stop by to talk gardening or strangers who see me in the General Store and comment on the garden. (I do spend a lot of time out there and the garden is right on the road so the "new guy with the garden that moved in over at Mrs. L's house" has become a topic of conversation around town, I'm told.) Thought I'd take a couple of minutes and post some pictures that I posted earlier on another forum I participate in. The garden is progressing pretty well and I'm generally happy with what got done this first year thought there is a whole lot of room for improvement and better planning. (I do tend to be overly critical of my own work, although too forgiving of other's. A bad trait for an engineering manager, I suppose, but that's me, I guess.) I did manage to get most of the weeds in check these past couple of weeks, so that's something to crow about. I centered the garden between two Red Maples and around the enormous lilac that falls dead center between them. Here's some views taken a few weeks ago: The west side: Finished the fence and only a little of that soil is still unplanted. Fall crops like kale and late snap peas will go there. One of the broccoli beds: (harvesting every day now!) And the east side: Following is a picture of the lilac that is at the core of the garden, taken earlier in the season. As I worked on the east side of the garden, the first half I focused on, the breeze from the west made the scent a constant fixture. I'd like to eventually cut it back to about 2/3rds its current size to make it a little less overwhelming and a little less shade-casting. This is where the main gate on the road-side will be. I, too, have finally settled into the idea that when it comes to a good hair cut, you do get what you pay for - this is my truth. It makes me mad, but I'm resigned. I have also found that the same person will give me a great cut (how well it grows out determines how good the cut was) for about a year, then she will mess it all up twice and I'm on the hunt for another stylist. In this area, there are a bunch of them, so I'm lucky in that area. I tip very well. Which is another thing that bugs me, those who are renting their space (better stylists do) set their own prices and work for themselves charge the earth already - but still expect the big tip. I want a great cut so I pay my dues and tip very well. It keeps them happy when the sissors hit their hands. But I have my own little revenge - I color my own hair! I learned how to do it and I get great satisfaction out of keeping that money and doing it myself for about $10 in product.

As annoying as Kent was I was still rooting for the Goths. They were the only ones who didn't openly cheat last week. I so want the Zev/Justin team to go since they a were the ones who started all the answer giving. With the teams left I want the sisters to win. They've had the best attitude throughout the race. The Globetrotters have their fame already and the dad/daughter just annoy me. Her tongue is always flapping about God or sticking out the side of her mouth like some mongrel's. LOL If they don't change the rules about giving away answers this is probably the last season I'll watch. I watch Survivor knowing it is a social game. Now they've turned TAR into a social game rather than one of couples using their own physical and mental skills. They should rename it Survivor On the Move. The "race" is no longer.

I tried the glucosamine stuff before I had my hip replaced. I did nothing for me.

If I am home alone, then the spoon in the peanut butter jar works; however, if the missus is home, I gotta use bread!

No jelly, gotta be jam or preserves.

Glucosamine takes several months to become affective. I remember taking it for several years and decided to stopÃ¢ÂÂ¦..I know not why. After a few months of stopping, I was aching all over so I went back on it. I don't care what anyone says, for me, "the proof is in the pudding". Works for me. In my case OJ, I have to live at least another ten years because I have Georgy to take care of. LOL

My orthopedic MD pooh-poohed the glucosamine at the time I had hip replacements. Maybe there's a newer combination that helps more? maybe it helps joints other than hips?

No PB here, and no jellies -- just jams and preserves. I love the Smucker's "Orchard's Finest" Michigan Red Tart Cherry Preserves -- in a short, fat 12 oz. jar. Half an English muffin with butter; half with preserves...yum. (Didn't care for the blueberry variety.)

I'll take your large jar of peanut butter. I like peanut butter in my morning oatmeal, peanut butter and banana toasted breakfast sandwich or peanut butter and raisins, peanut butter and bacon - maybe I'm related to Elvis!!

Harry takes a glucosamine tablet every night for his arthritic hips. I know it helps him.

I've been using the glucosamine for over a couple of years now, I think - it helped my right shoulder a lot, as I was having trouble reaching up ...out sideways ... and back. There was, easing in, quite a lot of improvement for quite a while, but the difficulties are returning some.

I think that the term that I intended for between the bones where they come together was "cartilage".

I got the diuretic pills refill yesterday, so am good to go with them for a while.

ole joyful ...who just went on "the pill"s about four years ago ... at something of an advanced age

I looked up longevity on Google and the chart I found gave 5 more years at age 80 if you were born in 1929, so I'm already seven months past my expiration date.
