I would probably shred them if I were concerned that the images might be used without my permission or as Minnie suggested, put them in with really gross, wet garbage.

I was just wondering if people were cautious about throwing pics out without taking any kind of measure to hide identities. I think they're fine the way they are, without shredding.

Good idea, Minnie. I did shred some sensitive documents at one point, and put them in with the used kitty litter.

Start a fire in a little pail and sprinkle the ashes in the yard.

I guess out of respect for the persons in the photos you could shred. My first thought was you could put them in a pail of bleach water? I would think that would work and save wear and tear on your shredder. Any of the other suggestions would work as well. Do you have a fire pit by any chance?

I'd toss them as with any other trash and not give it a second thought.

The fact that you are questioning what to do tells me that you are uneasy about what to do.

Unless the photos show people in compromising positions, I don't see a problem at all. As far as I know, it's only primitive tribes that believe a photograph steals a person's soul. To the rest of us, it's only a snapshot.

I'm all for putting them in the trash. I can't see anyone wanting to go through them. Nothing there that will interest anyone.

About your X-DH and wedding photo's. I think it would be a historically significant event, especially if children are involved. I know many times you wish you could forget ALL those memories, but in your 'old age' when you might be writing your memoirs....it takes on a different significance. JMO at age 80.

On the wedding picturesâ¦..if you look really good, cut the picture in half and just dispose of the other half. Personally, I think it's all a part of your life and I would keep them, but it's all how you feel about the other half.

You kids or grandkids could find the wedding pictures interesting one day.

I would just toss them without giving it a second thought. I did shred my step children's pictures, buuutttt I was a little angry. LOL

I don't think anybody cares about old photos unless you have some of Kim Kardashian or some other celebrity. I'd just toss them in the trash.. or shred them if you have the time.

As far as ex-wedding photos... I'm keeping the few I have. It was a major event in my life... I look at it as a learning experience.

I got rid of most of the pictures with my ex, but gave the rest to my daughters. It is their dad.

You could probably tear in two and toss except for any photos that have personal notes on them such as an address or identification of a person. Photos bearing sensitive information should be shredded or torn into small bits.

Just my opinion.

I'm going to keep some pictures of my wedding day. It wasn't a formal wedding, it was a beautiful outdoor wedding, with just immediate family.

I'm with the others to just toss them. Unless there is something embarrassing to you or someone else, I see no reason to shred them. If a name and address were written on the back, I might shred those. Otherwise, no.

Re saving photos from a first marriage, I have what might be an unusual story. Or maybe it's not all that unusual.

My husband and his first wife had a huge, formal wedding. Elegant. When they divorced, she kept the photos. Many years later, when my husband died, she sent me a few of these pictures because she thought my children would like to see what their father looked like as a young man. By then all the acrimony had long since been put to rest, and we had become friends.
