Monday Night's Dinner Plans?

Gorgeous summer day again. Boy, September has been warmer than all of August.

I took a couple of steaks out yesterday to grill, but we didn't feel like them yesterday, so we had them tonite. Boiled potatoes and sauteed cauliflower.

One of the stores has cauliflower for 99cents each. It's out of our way, and the regular stores that we shop at, had it for $1.49 and $1.69. Big difference. I'm going to get a couple of heads for 99cents while the sale is still on.

We are going to have salmon patties with zucchini, carrot mini quiches. Trying two new recipes.

Today was a beautiful sunny day and I was busy all day;didn't get home until 5. Hubby made most of the dinner for us and my sister: potatoes and onion packets on the grill, perfectly done steak and green beans. I made a squash from a neighbor's garden that I prepped with apples, cinnamon and brown sugar.

We had chicken salad rollups on flour tortillas. Has some fresh fruit on the side.....canteloupe, fresh pineapple, kiwi, strawberries with a yogurt, honey, lemon zest dipping sauce. The chicken salad turned out delicious...I hope that I can duplicate it next time. We ate outside on the patio, with the noisy birds. Good grief but they are expressive at this time of year and that time of night. It was delightful.

Glenda, have fun at the dentist tomorrow! You had yet another good-sounding dinner. Monica, we don't have Wegman's but I'll look for something similar--or make my own. I have wasabi powder. Hey I saw your picture on Sue's "Weekend" post. Well--at least I saw the car. Cool! Raven, I've been thinking about you and your family, since it looks like Isaac is going to hit LA. Glad you had such a nice visit and got to eat such yummy food. Nita, it's nice you've saved your old recipe books. I never had many but I have no idea what happened to the few I did. I do still have my Joy of Cooking from the early 70's. Did your recipe still taste the same? Houndsxtwo, you sure had a healthy dinner. Did you roast them all together? I had a hard time getting everything in similar sized chunks the one time I tried it, so when some stuff was done, other stuff wasn't. Georgysmom, you're going to be spoiled with all those celebrations :-) Sounds like a good time. LOL, Pammyfay, making cranberry sauce is easy. I like the canned sauce, too. We eat it all year around. We have a Bob Evans up the road and the food is good. Of course, I always get pancakes, so what do I know. They have the nicest wait staff, too.

Hi Patti!! I'm so glad to see you. I'm thinking pureed foods, or a veggie juice drink would be good for you. Lots of vitamins and nutrients which is what you need. Today was a sunny, cool day. I was expecting rain, it's in the forecast for the whole week, so today was a pleasant surprise. I did a load of whites and put them on the line, made an apple crisp and apple cobbler. The cobbler dough didn't turn out, the first time ever, the dough baked up tough. Inedible, really. I also made Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic, with potatoes and carrots in the pot. Had a friend over for dinner, and it was all eaten with abandon.

Raven, I bet you're excited! I just know you will fix the best Thanksgiving dinner they've ever tasted! Jasdip, have you ever mixed cooked cabbage and mashed potatoes together? It's an Irish dish called Colcannon and I just love it. I've seen recipes for meat dredged in corn flakes but I've never tried it. Is it good? Mary, know what you mean about cleaning out the frig. I did that yesterday so there will be room before most of it goes home with my daughter. You can keep that snow, BTW!! Laura, great dinner tonight! My daughterwill be here Thursday and is very good about helping. She didn't even want me to cook since I can't eat it, but she also knows how much I love to do it. SIL and DGS are excellent cleaner-uppers!

Too many irons in the fire today that I wasn't expecting, so Stouffers Fish w/mac/cheese was the right thing for me to have.

We went to Costco Sunday and stocked up on goodies. Tonight is their fresh made stuffed bell peppers. They are so good. They are in the oven and smelling good.

I made a casserole of potatoes, diced bacon, onions and cheese. I then scrambled some eggs and made breakfast burritos for tomorrow morning with the casserole. So we've got dinner and breakfast made. YAY!

Last night we stopped at Bob's Steakhouse and brought most of our steak home with us. Tonight I heated them up on the indoor electric grill, They were as good tonight as last night. We had hashbrowns with them.

We had salmon patties, mashed potatoes, green beans, beets , sliced cucumbers and tomatoes. It was all good!

Yesterday I made a batch of beef stew that turned out really well.
Today I had a bowl of leftover beef stew.

decided at the last minute to drive along with dh to his dr's appt...we stopped at arbys on the way home just a plain sammie and diet drink but gee it was really good...

Happy Anniversary Carabubble!

DH has gone back to low carb, so it was hamburger patties and steamed broccoli for us.

Bengardening, aren't indoor grills wonderful? I asked for one on Freecycle, and a member gave us hers. It's a griddle/grill and it was too big for them and literally in new condition.

We love using it on the balcony to keep the smells out of the apartment and use it often.

Jasdip mine is probably from the 60's I think. My sister bought it at a thrift store, but it didn't have a power cord with it. If you remember a couple of months ago I asked if anyone on here could tell me where to get one. The company was out of business. When I was in Michigan I always looked in the thrift stores to see if I could find one. One day I found one for a dollar and I thought even if it doesn't work I am only out of a dollar. When I came home I tried it and it works. We really like to use it.
