What's for dinner Saturday?

We're watching the UGA-Tennessee game right now. UGA's ahead right now. Harry keeps flipping the channel between that and OSU-Michigan State game. Sigh! He drives me so crazy sometimes.

Tonight we're having a simple pasta tossed with olive oil/garlic and parsley with fresh Parmesan, garlic toast and a salad. FSU game starts at 6:00!

AL's game doesn't start until 8:15 cst. Seriously doubt I'll watch it to the end. Sounds like it's gonna be an easy one for Bama.

No dinner tonight. We went to a birthday brunch, ate too much, and have been dragging around all day. Neither one of us are used to eating heavily at 10:30 in the morning. Left there and went to Costco since we were close, Fred Meyer (there isn't one here locally) then home and had company for a while. Brunch was at a casino. The food is good, I had bacon and tomato omelet, more. And I did gamble a little before we left. I had almost lost my $20, won it back so played some more (slots) and that time I did lose it. DH lost his $5 on a penny machine and quit :) We're not gamblers, and I must say, its a lot more fun when I can break even or win a little. My SIL had begun with $200 and was up to almost $700 in winnings when we left, she has more disposable income than I feel I do.

..Asking me for a recipe isn't usually something I can help with. But I'll try! And I know that I said orzo but I MEANT coucous! But it sure would work with orzo. Fix 1 cup coucous and 1/2 cup red quinoi according to the directions on their labels. Be sure to rinse the quinoa first, and I prefer the red....it tastes nuttier to me. I cook both of them in chicken broth. This salad can be made just with quinoi, but I didn't want to scare my guests. :-) Veggies....to equal about two cups or more : chopped green onions, red bell pepper, english cuke, chick peas (rinsed and drained), halved cherry tomatoes. Use your favorite vinaigrette . I made a lemon dressing with quarter cup fresh lemon juice, quarter cup olive oil, two cloves minced garlic, chopped fresh oregano, sugar, S & P to taste, and a splash of balsamic or other vineger. I didn't use all of the dressing. Add it to the couscous and quinoi while still warm, cover, and chill. When ready to serve, stir and taste to add more dressing if necessary. I added a bit of lemon zest on top for serving and fresh mint from the garden .

Gosh, everyone's dinner sounds so good! I swear that I'm going to get a slow cooker; I must be one of the few that don't. I'm looking forward to those cool autumn evenings. I sort of miss our little outdoor chiminea....it was enjoyable to sit around a fire and chat over drinks. Jasdip, my eyes are FABULOUS! My vision gets sharper and brighter every day. I asked Robert this evening if he noticed that the TV reception had improved and he just laughed at me. I simply cannot believe that I have this vision out of my own eyes. My doctor somehow managed to finess my new lenses so that I feel like I have almost infinite far vision but still can see well enough close up that I've only needed readers for very small print. I can put on my makeup, read most things without my new little readers. I will donate all of my eye glasses next week. Pretty amazing. I had him, his technician, and myself dabbing our eyes last week at a checkup visit after my second surgery. I made him stop what he was going, I took his hand in mine, leaned close to him and told him how much my new vision meant to me, someone who had really been so burdened by terrible vision since I was a little, tiny girl. I wanted him to know that my life was changed.

Don't you be coming down with a cold, or worse Patti! Nice and warm again today. It's probably the last before it turns cold again. (11C= 52F). Hung the laundry outside and hubby and I bought the curtain rod that I needed so we can hang some drapes. The apartment is outfitted with vertical blinds and I bought some burgundy panels that were on clearance, as I like the softness of curtains. We had to buy a 144" rod so we put that up today. Looks real nice and homey. I'll post a pic tomorrow or so. Made bran muffins today as well. Dinner was chicken parmigiana with spaghetti and a salad. The chicken breast was huge, and we pigged out. Man it was good.

I thawed hamburger so I could make a sandwich with onions on it for my lunch. Decided to fry the rest of it into patties, then poured a can of cream of mushroom soup over the rest. I put that over barley for my evening meal. Also had a mixture of vegetables.

Went to the commissary today for food to take on our trip.

Tonight Mike is going to grill steaks and I will make up some mashed potatoes and steam fresh broccoli.

Glenda, EVERY game is an easy one for Alabama!! Seriously! Sure wish I could have some of that 7-layer salad.

Poor Sue--have you been cleaning all day? I'm sure you'll sleep well tonight.

Yes, going to Fredericksburg for a few days then head to MarilynC's neck of the woods. Going to the get together in Houston on the 13th. Then will head to Waco and meet with Jaybird who used to post here. Last stop is Tyler where a group is going to meet. We will be gone for a little over 3 weeks.

I'm a little late, it's Sunday morning, early.
Yesterday, the steak, baked potato and salad medley... :)

The football thing forces me to do one of two things, fire up the grill for burgers/steaks etc.. or the oven for Pizza.

I'm so predictable.
