It's at the Alabama Theater, here, that they have restored back to it's original.

You can see The Mighty Wurlitzer, that rises.

I grew up going there to see movies, Mickey Mouse Club, etc.

It's a grand a glorious theater.

The women's lounge is glorious! As well as the whole place.

Our tickets are in the center mezzanine below the balcony. Perfect tickets.

I have never been to a ballet performance before so don't know if I like it but I think this would be an opportunity I couldn't pass up. I'm excited for you.

I have season tickets to our Royal Winnipeg Ballet which is performing Swan Lake in March 2015. This year is their 75th anniversary.

I used to, years ago. I liked modern dance as well. Enjoy!

Swan Lake was my favorite ballet when I was a child, and I'm sure I'd still love it. The Russians will do it proud. And what a fabulous theater!

Now comes the hard part: waiting for January.

I saw the Moscow ballet company perform The Nutcracker. The prima ballerina was *so amazing* that I couldn't wait to see it again! I saw them again the next year, but with a new/young prima and it just was not the same. :(

They will be here in Nov performing the Nutcracker, but I've seen it so many times, not the Moscow Ballet.

Looking forward to Swan Lake.

I've loved ballet since a little girl when our little upstate NY school district benefitted greatly from educational outreach by the major NYC ballet companies. Two or three times a year, we were able to sit in our little school auditoriums and actually hear the pounding of pointe shoeson our own wooden stages.

Twice a year, we were bussed to our larger community theatre to enjoy a full scale ballet production.

I know that were very blessed to have these experiences; they certainly affected my life. I see a live production whenever and wherever I can.

Enjoy, Glenda! I saw that company in Atlanta one year.....they performed on Friday and the Atlanta Ballet on Saturday. The latter was with a live orchestra, which always makes a production extra spectacular.

I can't say I"m a big fan of ballet but I hope you enjoy the performance. I have not been to that theater but WOW! That is so beautiful. I will have to make a point to go to something there to see it in person.

I've been to The Fox Theater many times in Atlanta, which is absolutely gorgeous, but Alabama Theater and it's finery is tops.

Linda, you need to go! I'm going Tuesday with a group of Senior to see Casablanca and lunch afterwards at Sweet Tea.

They even contract out the theater for special occasions, such as weddings. Can't imagine the cost.

Love these beautifully restored theaters! I hope you witness a marvelous performance.

If you ever played a sport, you are better able to appreciate a great play or player. If you ever danced, you can better appreciate excellence when you see it.

I was delighted to reach 5' 2" and *stay there* in my early teens, having taken ballet since I was a tot. Then...I grew another four inches. Bah! (Not that I would have been joining a ballet company with my level of skill and endurance.)

My daughter danced for 10 years and I was the costumer for two of the companies she danced with. I have seen Swan Lake several times and The Nutcracker more than I can count! I was usually in the wings waiting with needle and thread, ready to make a quick repair or help with a costume change. The strangest was when a male visiting dancer blew out the crotch of his pants! I was kneeling beneath him trying to sew it without sticking him "down there" with the needle! And then the weirdness of it all since I really didn't know him hardly at all, not like the regular dancers in the company....

A&E ued to present ballets in the old days I loved Spartacus, Saw some live when I lived in Miami but sat too close to the stage and the thump on the stage was distracting when they'd "land"

My now 29 year old daughter studied ballet starting at 6. At 16 she earned a summer scholarship to study at Alvin Ailey in NYC and she attended the Orange County High School of the Arts. I've watched a lot of ballet and paid for a ton of expensive custom built pointe shoes that lasted roughly 8 hours. ugh. Can I appreciate ballet, certainly. Do I enjoy it? No. :-)

So happy those days are behind me.

Two of my college granddaughter's housemates were ballet students who have now graduated. I know one has a job with, I think it is, an Arizona ballet company. My granddaughter is in the opera program at her college.
