She fought a good fight, but the cancer won, My thoughts and prayers are with her family. We know Amber is fine now and in the loving arms of our Creator.

She was certainly a very courageous young lady with a wonderful spirit. It must be a great honor to have known her and to know her family. My sincerest condolences to you, to Amber's family and all her many friends.

Ugh! Brain Cancer! Terribly *unfair*! My sympathy, Salgal.

I hope you won't think I'm being insensitive, but were there any good 'odds' that treatment would help, or did it just make what was left of her too-short life miserable? I ask because my BFF died of a brain tumor after surgeries and treatments that had a miniscule chance of helping -- but did make her last months a torture.

I'm sorry That she is gone Salgal I read her story earlier and it made me feel strengthened for so many who fight this battle...when I get weary myself or whiny I remind myself of all the youngsters who are battling cancer who haven't even had a life and I am ashamed....Her strength and courage was so amazing...I am sure that her courage is helping her friends family at the moment deal with her loss.....

I have a big lump in my throat just watching that. My 49 year old friend who died of lung cancer in March would have been 50 today. I have been thinking of her all day.

Chisue yes, they tried many different and new treatments. (they really had nothing to lose) About 6 weeks ago the Dr's told her they could try another high dose of radiation. They were very candid in explaining that it might slow down or shrink the tumor, but the treatment would be brutal and she would likely die before they were done. Amber bravely tried the treatments ( I think 2). Then she elected to stop them. I understand the pain she was in was unbearable and very, very hard to manage.
Her mother had long ago given her complete control in making her own health decisions. They have always known she would die from this tumor and have been very candid about it.
Her father died of the same cancer.

And yes, my pains are but a blip when I think about her struggle. Thankfully she is pain free now.

Thanks for the backstory, Salgal. Tragic that this was evidently an inherited condition.

I have to say that, to me, there WAS something to lose by trying almost certainly futile treatments. They stole what little normal life she had left. (Doesn't matter, as long as she knew the bargain she was making.)
