We often had tomatoes with breakfast when I was a kid, peppers too.

A friend gave us lots of fresh tomatoes and I had one for breakfast this morning - an unconventional way, top sliced off, 1/2 tsp sugar sprinkled over, and eaten whole. Yummy!

I love tomatoes. This year, I had the best crop of the most delicious tomatoes ever. I just picked 8 or 9 today...got 11 the day before yesterday. It is almost to the end of the season, and I will hate to see the vines die. They make the most fabulous pico de gallo!! I can eat them for any meal...anytime!

Tomato products (Ketchup, Salsa) with eggs. Strangely, I did make a tomato sandwich for "desert" after breakfast this morning. Home grown, and warm, should be on everyone's table.

I remember going to my aunt's house in North Carolina. She always served sliced tomatoes with breakfast and sliced cheese. It seemed so odd to me, but it was a pretty good idea, I think. Just not something I was used to....my mother would cook eggs and sausage or bacon or ham, but never anything extra except maybe grits. Always biscuits though. She made wonderful biscuits. And red eye gravy if she cooked ham.

Haven't had this in many years, but use to love a McDonald's biscuit, come home and spread mustard and add a freshly picked sliced tomato to the biscuit.

I've been craving one lately, but never around a McD's when they are still serving breakfast :o(

Sliced tomatoes are almost a must for me with eggs. Speaking of McD's, I'll occasionally pick up some English muffins, Canadian bacon, sliced cheese, and make my own version of their McMuffin sandwich.....sliced tomatoes added. Makes a nice breakfast/brunch or supper!

I just love McD's buttery biscuits :o)

I'd never heard of tomatoes and eggs until I started reading English novels and I must say, they do taste grand together!

I have sliced tomatoes many times during the summer with my fried eggs breakfast. I still have some in the garden, but it won't be long before they are gone.

A good English breakfast is always served with a grilled tomato.

As I mentioned, I received many tomatoes from a friend, so I thought I would roast them, then put them in the freezer. Quicker than canning. They turned out so delicious, that I had to remind myself not to eat them all right away lol! The recipe is so simple - spread some oil on a shallow pan (line with parchment paper if you wish), wash and dry tomatoes, remove the stem end and cut them in half. Put them cut side down in the pan and put more olive oil on the tops. Roast in a 400 degree oven (or whatever temperature you prefer) until tomatoes are completely softened and wilted and start to wrinkle (mine took at least 45 minutes). I put chopped basil on the roasted tomatoes before putting in freezer bags. Some recipes say to add garlic and fresh thyme and rosemary before baking, but I will add these later if I need to.

Love tomatoes in omelets as long as they're not those pale tasteless things you usually get in restaurants. Love raisin toast too.

I think it's just a given in the south...a southern household had so many tomatoes, you you put them on the table at every meal just to get rid of them...hoping some one would eat them and most people loved them enough they didn't care what meal it was....

My little brother used to walk through the garden popping little tomatoes into his mouth...his mouth would be so full he couldn't talk.
