I just realized that it's National Cheeseburger Day. Guess I should have one, but I had a big breakfast earlier so it'll probably be belated. And yes, I'll be avoiding Five Disappointments! LOL

Since I don't eat cheese or burgers, I'm celebrating the other big September 18 event: National Play-Doh Day!

When I worked at a university library I used to have fun with these wacky "national days." There are so many of them! I remember March being National Caffeine Awareness Month. :-)

I'm glad that you were able to find a home for your plants. It looks like they'll be going to a good cause, also. I'm sure they will very much appreciate it, it's a lot of work to divide, pot up and label everything. I was thinking about donating to the homes for habitat but now I'm just tired of looking at pots in my yard! I have a sedum from the exchange which was probably meant for you. The next time I see you - I'll dig it back up for you (minus a little piece LOL)!

I used to make scones, but now I buy them at Trader Joe's because the ones that have are so good. I buy the lingonberry ones. I almost brought scones with me to work today but instead brought TJ's Greek yogurt and some raspberries to have with the Bear Naked granola I keep at my desk for breakfast. I used to try to eat before coming to work, but I'm really not hungry enough that early. Lars

Ohhh, I had no idea it was National Dog Day! Happy Doggie Day to all you wonderful canines! Here's my Howie. He rescued me back in April of this year six weeks after losing our 11 year old chocolate Lab. I was not coping well when he showed up on our patio one cold, dark, stormy night. He was soaking wet, starving, full of fleas and had been shot. Discovered 2 months later that he had heart worms :( Just finished the protocol for that on Oct 1. He's been thru hell and back but is one very happy and grateful dog and I am very blessed that he chose me to be his guardian :)

Around here (Western Pa) its labled **ribeye delmonico* Strips are labled **New York Strip** First and only time I ever had FM was a few years ago we were guests at a Disney Producers house for Christmas dinner. .it was all you could eat FM. OMG it was the most tender piece of beef ever to enter my mouth. I think about it often and have even had some dreams. LOL. Truthfully I've never been successful at cooking steak...maybe because I prefer more on the done side..pink is fine but can't do red. I'm not much of a meat eater but a few times a year I crave a good steak which I've been thinking about porterhouse lately from the other thread. LOL. Eventually I'll get some and cook like you all do...with salad and baked potato oozing butter. .gosh I have myself drooling.

I enjoy the various holidays too. They make a lot more sense to me than some of the Hallmark Holidays that get shoved on us.

Gosh, I had no idea! I thought it was just my wedding anniversary. Well, actually I forgot it was our anniversary until I saw a card at my place this morning. (I thought about it last week, when I failed to find a decent card myself.)

Today has been a beautiful autumn day -- no rain showers, as we had on this date in 1964.
