Weather permitting, if the rain holds off, our neighbors are having a cookout and we are invited to join them.

Well, right now I'm taking a break from shoveling tree bark out of the space where we split wood, but I don't think that counts as "plans." :-)

Later this afternoon I'll be hanging out at my daughter's house with her in-laws, and hopefully get a boat ride in if it doesn't rain. I'm bringing a salad with salmon, and corn muffins made with herbs from my garden.

A couple of DDs, DGD, and I plan on going for lunch at a summer attraction place. We've been doing this for years, on Labor Day.

I'm cleaning the house. I have Mexican Train here tonight.

Nothing special as the kids are camping out between storms More rain last night and would love to send some to the west coast.
Good day for outings in this area, cool, a little breezy and so pretty. 62 at 11.30 am

Our plan is to stay home and avoid the crazy holiday traffic. I have fresh fruit salad, potato salad and grilled chicken ready in the refrigerator for meals.

We're staying home too. I'm working on organizing my craft room.

My plans are simple for today. Wes is spinning around trying to make deer bow season work with dove season and getting both pups a good workout.

Harry knows bird season started today (He knew it yesterday) and he's been spinning like a top. His old bones creak and snap, he sleeps 20 hours a day, but bird season makes him act 18-months-old again.

Of course, he wont' be out long. Wes goes slow with him and brings along lots of water, but as long as Harry draws breath he'll get some feathers in his mouth each season. (And make silly faces trying to spit them out.)

I'm make a cucumber salad, mashed potato salad and if and when Wes comes home tonight I have a tri-tip ready to grill.

Getting the house ready for my sister, coming for a visit from Vancouver. We will pick berries and make jam with my aunt. Our aunt is quite elderly and loves high bush cranberry jam. Getting ready also for babysitting the granddaughters Tuesday and Wednesday, since school doesn't start until Thursday. We will be making chocolate chip cookies for them to sell at their garage sale this weekend - we're using the recipe that's on the chocolate chip bag, never tried it before, and I hope they turn out well.

I was planning to drive to Virginia to spend some time with an old friend and help her out around the house. She's recovering from a mastectomy but now is back in the hospital with a massive infection. She had surgery again today, haven't heard how it went.

Still planning on making the trip when she gets out of the hospital.

So, spent the day washing up my bedding. I also weeded some out back, was hoping to do another round this evening after the batteries recharge for the weedeater, but it's raining again. The weeds were still wet when I did them earlier too.

I'm on vacation and will probably just clean the house.

Marilyn, your food sounds wonderful. Comfort food. I wish someone would cook a good old-fashioned dinner for me that I haven't had time to do myself.

I'm still working on the hill (think cliff) that drops off the back of the property below our bedroom. We got the ivy, blackberry, alder, English laurel cut off of it last year and then not replanted, then some of it slid a bit with winter rains. There is a house below us and that couple got a little muddy runoff during our last major rainstorm. Now I'm trying to replant (some aggressive spreaders), won't be gardening there and just want filled in, natural, a little wild is fine.

I was laying in the middle of it yesterday hanging on with toes and fingers trying to plant, then when I'd try to get up, I'd start sliding, didn't know whether to laugh or cry. DH was holding out a shovel handle for me from above but by that time I was laughing so hard I couldn't help myself, couldn't go up or down. I had a major giggle fit laying in the middle of that hill, had to compose myself, come in and have a drink, wash my face. Last planting attempt has been today and then hopefully I'll be done - and some dirt stopping roots will take hold.

Just about everyone we know is gone this weekend so dinner will be just us, DH is going to put a prime rib on the gas grill in a few minutes so we'll have something nice to eat, but if I wanted yeast rolls, a pie, mashed potatoes I'd have to do that myself and I don't have time this afternoon :)

went grocery shopping and I think everyone else in town did too. Wow both stores we hit were so packed you could barely move. Not easy when in a scooter.

We are going out to a bbq place with our neighbors for dinner.

Had a big rain storm while we were out of course. Needed the rain did not need to drown though.

Count-down starts in earnest today...leaving NEXT Monday morning for OKC and THE Wedding of Grandson. Call us excited. Will let anyone interested know where I will post our travel blog.(if I do)

We watched the Secret Life of Walter Mitty with popcorn. Stayed in and stayed cool.

We had a potluck at the hunt club after the first fox hunt of the season. A couple of members were grilling up steaks, and chicken and sausages, everyone else brought a salad or side dish or dessert to share. I made a Cold Cucumber Yogurt Soup, and a Cornbread casserole with fresh jalapenos from the garden. As is usual for these events, there was far too much food, but at least much of the food was good.
