Local counties on edge after State Troopers shot

Perhaps you saw it in the national news: Two Pennsylvania State Troopers were shot outside a barracks Friday night as the shift changed. Bryon Dickson, a 38-year-old father of two boys, was killed. Alex Douglass, 31, was critically wounded but is expected to recover.

The suspect, a 31-year-old survivalist, is still at large. He is assumed to be holing up in the mountains somewhere, but that's just an assumption. Everyone in our area is advised to keep our doors locked and be careful. Thirteen schools have closed, and some hospitals are on lock-down, with extra security. It's unnerving.

This morning my daughter's commute to work was paused to let a long line of cars pass across an intersection: police cars, lights flashing, from different jurisdictions, on their way to pay respects to a fallen officer.
