Very interesting Blog....bookmarked it! I certainly fit the bill, with the itchy, dry skin that is driving me crazy and intend to try this. However, after years of trying to stop the itching...and it becoming evermore serious; shampoos, body washes, laundry soap etc. etc. etc., we have eliminated, and I have discovered that it is a peanut allergy... then added all nuts... thinking olive oil too. Leaving today for 6 week trip (Oregon to Oklahoma), but when I return, I am going to get tested, I hope.... altho, eliminating nuts has made me more comfortable, along with medication. Yes...Who Knew?

Nut allergy. I hadn't suspected that. Mine would probably be something I couldn't life without like milk. I think they're figuring out it's not as good as thought. But I love the taste of milk!

I also got rid of shampoo. That has been even more successful. The cleanser I use is two whole chemicals, or three, depending on which I choose. Water and baking soda or I add essential oil for fragrance. But it's my fragrance that I can use after testing, not their choice.

Yes I have some and did use it but it wrecked havoc on my shower drain. It is oil based after all. I don't use it any more. And I did notice that it left a fine film on the floor of the shower that was slippery. I am already scared to get in the shower with out assistance even though I have grab bars and a shower chair. I have had some bad falls in the shower before and I don't want to do anything that makes that risk higher.
So be aware of those possible issues.

This particular formulation has something that makes it foamy? so maybe it's not all oil (I can't find the ingredients online). Because it's so thin, I put it directly into my hands, and only use drops of it. Maybe 1/2 t total? So maybe it won't be too much? I hope!

Added to say this: found it online and it says "Ingredients
Rice Bran Oil, Organic Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Orange and Nutmeg Essential Oils"

But I do hope the foaming takes it on down the drain.

Neutrogena has had shower oil for many, many years. Made with sesame oil.

nanny98 you have brought up a very important fact about food and medication not being compatible...and unless your pharmacy send out a fact sheet AND CUSTOMERS read it, you have no idea...dh is terrible about readiing all that fine print...on his latest, he can no longer take his alieve, and had to switch to tyn...or that cabbage family and thyroid meds are a no no...

I will tell you what I have been using for years that does wonders for my skin especially my arms which tend to dry out the worst. I use a product called body silk that is made by hand each bottle individually custom ordered, the only place to buy it is Maggie's Pharm located in Overton Square in Memphis, TN. I started going to Maggie's when I lived in Memphis and went to med school there and worked in the medical center. Some of the people I worked with introduced me to Beaver/Maggie. She is awesome. I fell in love with the body silk. You get out of the shower and put it on while still dripping wet, it seals in the moisture. It can be scented with a long list of essential oils or left neutral. My favorite of her essential oils is China rain and China musk in the barely there scent, it's so barely there I have to sniff the bottle to make sure I don't have the neutral. I like the little scent when I go to bed or am at home.
My daughter in law, who still lives near Memphis, goes by Maggie's and stocks up on my "stuff" and gives me a gift basket for Christmas. That's one of my favorite things!

There is a website, I don't know if you can still order online but you can call and order, and the website lists the scents and products she carries. I don't know how many people I have turned on to the body silk and Maggie's over the years but it's been a lot.

This works out well for me and doesn't mess with the drain.

He donated the land Memphis was built on. Sounds like a place I'd fit right in. Love all things Overton (he was a redheaded lawyer, the best kind!).

I loved going to Overton square when we lived there. It's not far from the medical center area so it was a lunch destination and so was Maggie's. Beaver the owner has beautiful red hair too lol. We were always down at the square hearing some of the best bands at night. That's one of the great memories of living there.
