The Voice - my friend is a contestant

Austin Jenckes will be a contestant on The Voice which starts in a couple of weeks - I don't know if he makes it past the first round but seriously, he's wonderfully talented and one of the nicest musicians and certainly THE nicest lead singer I've ever worked with. Everyone who knows him, loves him. This is a video of his "Goodbye friends and family i'm headed to live in Nashville" show - That's me loving life there on the left of Austin. I hope he does well! Amy, you had me at your first note. And he's excellent, too--I hope he does well. The Voice is the only show I know I want to watch this season. Last year was my first time watching, and I loved it. Please give us a reminder when it starts!

You look gorgeous, and I can see why you were loving life. Making music with others--being totally in synch and feeling it--is one of the truly great highs.

My mother passed away April 13th 2022. she raised me and my sister, as a single mother. she worked 2 jobs to ptovide for us, but we took her for granted as children. When the mother of my 2 children passed away in 2016, my mother moved in with us. My mother helped raise my daughter(16 now) and my son(15 now) for almost a decade. My mother was more than just my best friend, she was my only friend. i have complex PTSD, and she was the only one that i trusted enough to talk about the war with… she went with me to the VA, when i had to. she gave me strength, she always seemed to understand things that other people either couldnt or didnt want to understand… my dog died about a month before my mother did… 2022 has taken a lot from me and my 2 children… they saw her as a mother, as much as me… i go from feeling numb to feeling deep sadness and loss… i don‘t want to give up, but i always needed her support. she died from cancer, after being on immunotherapy for 2 years… she suffered from many side effects, for most of her treatment. she became so thin near the end that it was painful to see her like that… i was with her until the end, and it may sound strange but i held her for some time after she died and just sobbed onto her… i talk to her still thst she is dead for months, but i still wake up thinking that she is alive… i beli my mother is in heaven, but selfishly i just want my mom back… i miss my only friend… i miss the only selfless person that i ever met… i feel so empty, and i did not think that id feel so lost… she gave me direction when i didnt know what to do… i hope this posts, it does give comfort to know that i am not a

Our pool is 3 1/2 x 5(+)x 4, with a sunshelf, and we love this setup. The entire pool gets used. I, personally like to swim laps, lay on the sunshelf and float. I like swimming from one end to the other and being able to put my feet down on either end when I get there, especially when playing with my kids in the pool. I have had all kinds of kids, younger and older, playing in my pool and they jump, do cannonballs, even my daughter does a front somersault off the edge (she isn't diving, pushes off from the edge, and lands similar to a cannonball all curled up), but we just don't allow diving and the kids don't really care. We also have a blow up slide that we set up in the middle of the pool and they have a blast. On Memorial Day, we had a volleyball game going and it was great. The adults stand more towards the net where it begins to slope down and get deeper and the shorter people are back in the shallower part. I mean we only go to a little over 5 feet in our deep area so adults can stand fine close to the net (and some kids too). We just decided to do this style pool because most of my neighbor's deep ends are 5-5 1/2' deep anyway and we just did the same thing but only we put ours in the center. It wasn't in our plans to pay extra for a deeper (7' +) deep end anyway, so we would've had around the same depth, traditional deep end or not. If you guys are just going to float and both of your kids are out of the house, you need to think about how much use you will get out of a diving board and a deep end. For grandkids, there are always fun pool toys to keep them busy, inflatable slides, bumper boats, etc. My point is, whatever you decide to go with, kids make their own fun in a pool no matter what the shape, depth or style.

I've really been enjoying everyone's stories in this thread. You can see a lot of love here! Clementine, if you tell your mom to butt out, no matter how politely you say it, it will hurt her deeply. She advises you because she loves you and wants to give to you, and she needs to feel needed. I had sort of the same problem with my mother. So I sat down and thought about how she would love to feel that she had done something nice for me. Then I did a little mental inventory of her skills, and she had no shortage of those. I wanted to sew new living room drapes, pleated. This was an area where I really would love her help. So when she was over, I took her to the fabric store with me and we picked out something pretty. Then she helped me measure and cut, I sewed, and together we hung them. It turned out to be a really nice mother-daughter time for us both. I got help with something I needed help with, and she got to feel needed and appreciated, which she was. I learned to think of things to ask her opinions and help with, and she learned to relax. Everybody won. If you think about it, maybe can you find a way to put your mom to work helping you sew, or can, or something?

I hope this is allowed, if not please let me know.I know this nice kid.He is 15 and is a great kid. He doesnt ask for alot, but he needs this expensive calculator for school. Well he is trying to win one in a contest and what it is is a voting contest for a calculator cover. He designed his cover with a picture of him running. He runs track for school and does very well with his grades. I really hope he does well. I've worked with some real pieces of work, arrogant short sighted and selfish artists. Austin is just good people. Lights up a room when he walks in with his quiet gentle but cool personality -

I've got some fun stories of being on tour with Austin but I guess if he's going to be famous I'd better keep my mouth shut. ;)

Whoa! I am impressed.

Austin is terrific but your accompaniment makes all the difference. Your voice amazing and you are gorgeous.

My friend's cousin was in The Voice last season and came in second. Her name is Michelle.

Amy, I'm so glad he made it! Great audition, and Blake seems like a perfect fit. Hope the next round goes well for him too. It starts next week, yes? I'll be watching.

We love The Voice, and Blake is our favorite coach. So I am glad that Austin was chosen and that he picked Blake to coach him. I hope he does well.

Amy, you are beautiful and have a great voice. And you are a great fiddler--I love fiddle playing...to me, that's the best instrument in a band.

Yes that's my guy! Well my guy as far as I've played and toured with him... we are friends. It is such a thrill to see him participate on the show. My hope for him is that when all is said and done that he gets new doors opened for himm and that he can be proud of who he was on the show. Go Austin!

He was great on the auditions got a lot of fans that are already looking him up on youtube.
This year they really have some amazing talent on the show.
I am glad they are now all filled up and will start the real competition.
There are too many good ones for me to even think about picking my faves yet but I have to say Austin is up there. I really like the guy from Lafayette Louisiana too, my sister had told me about him and how good he is she was right.

At least on the voice we don't have to go through the crazy people and the ones that can not sing a note, we just see the real deal talent.

I will risk being an obnoxious name dropper sand say it's fun to see Blake's personality on this show....I met him once and he and his crew were nauseatingly arrogant and rude....and I was not impressed. He sure knows how to turn it on for this show.

Yes, my friend's cousin is Michelle Chamuel. I've never met her, but I liked her singing.

Thanks for the link jeaninwa. I don't watch The Voice usually so it was fun to watch. How exciting, Amy. Sure hopes this opens lots of doors for your friend. He seems like a real nice down-to-earth guy. I wish him well.

Amy, on the one hand I'm profoundly disappointed to hear that Blake is really like that. On the other hand, I feel a lot better now about the fact that he and I aren't dating. :-)
