Droopy eyelids!

U have them! What have you done about them?

Have an eye exam, Monday, for a general checkup, and interested to see what they have to advise about my droopies!

My girlfriend had surgery to keep them up. If they are bad enough Medicare will pay for the surgery. She is very happy with the results.

I just had my eyelids lifted because they were droopy. Love the results, it is a very simple surgery, your eyelids heal quickly, very little down time.

Did your surgeon make any recommendations post op, he would be the first person I would ask. 16 days is really not a long time. I personally would stay away from any eyecream that has an anti wrinkle or tightening effect for now, while you are still healing. Some eyecreams make me puff up. congratulations for taking the plunge, you must be so happy !

And I don't mind saying I am 55yo. I just want to look and feel my best. I don't do manicure, pedicures or massages. I do not have a clothes, shoes or handbag fetish. I don't even have a product fetish. :D I always have been and always will be a house person. Oh, my goodness - YES. I'm 53 and am still not quite sure how I arrived at this age practically overnight, but it happened and I'm glad to be here. I do sometimes fret over the fact that I feel I've started to look tired, but I also know how to remedy that and it's my own fault for not getting after it. I sometimes think about having something done about the frown lines between my eyes that are starting to become more and more visible, but then I just go get my bangs trimmed and all's right once more in my world. I don't do manicures, pedicures or massages either. (My last massage experience was horrifying - had a brute of a therapist who coldly told me I had "control issues" because I couldn't make myself relax under her beefy hands!) I do like to have a couple of new articles of clothing and shoes with each season, but I am not and will never be a fashionista. Just don't care enough about that sort of thing. But my home? Yes, my home is where I always have invested and focused, and I can't see that changing - no matter how much deeper these lines go.

BB, I want to look like your mom when I grow up. :) Actually it would e great if the photo went there! lol. All but one of my grandparents (granddad) had passed before I was born. My dad was an only child, my mom grew up in an orphanage beginning around age 5. I know absolutely nothing about the three that passed Ida, the thing is, it doesn't take a great deal of makeup to look nice. It just takes a good product (drug store brands do qualify) and how to apply it. I was shocked at all the goop put on those ladie's faces. I'm more concerned with skin tone and of course my eye's looking dead. I don't wear foundation and rarely I wear concealer. In the above pic I did have concealer on under the eyes, and I finally learned how to apply it. What a difference it made! My eyes will always be a crap shoot though. I remembered I had Elf Lip Lock crayon (used to be called pencil but they're the same product) and I used it today for the first time because my upper lip has recently started to feather a bit. They didn't feather at all with the Elf.

Maybe she got some fat injected into them? I have no idea. Luckily, I think I still had some "fat" right under my eyebrow, and my surgeon took off mostly my eyelid. And, I made a big deal about not taking too much. It's tricky for us with hooded eyes. She does look younger in the first pic, IMO, but different-which is what I said earlier-be aware, after eyelid surgery those of us with hooded eyes won't look like we did when we were younger WITH HOODED EYES, the hooded part will be gone. I still have squinty eyes though. eta: I had only my uppers done, no problem on my lowers.

Glenda..I had to have mine done 4 years ago-as I could see my eyelids in my vision line. A plastic surgeon did it and it was covered by insurance as it was necessary. It only took her 20 min. to do both lids. I was really black & blue for a week but kept a bag of frozen peas on each of them every 30 min.! Surgeon was surprised I was less bruised than most after the week. A year later-I still was 'drooping' and she again did the surgery-only this time she lifted the lids by cutting skin out from just under the brow line. Been great ever since. Seems so good not to see my eyelids!

It's quite a business here. Lots of my friends have had it done and yes, your insurance will cover it if the doctor deems it a medical problem not a cosmetic problem.

Mine are droopy too. Insurance will not cover fixing that unless the eyelids are interfering with a person's vision. Otherwise it is considered as "costmetic surgery" which is not covered.

We all sure to seem to sag in so many places as we age. LOL

My sister had it because her lids were so droopy they interfered with her vision, so insurance covered. It wasn't cosmetic surgery. I believe the procedure is called blepharoplasty. Her recovery was not smooth and I'm sure not typical either, but the surgery made a difference in her vision (and appearance too, but that's a side issue).

Glenda, my husband had it done when an illness (meningitis) left him with a drooping eyelid. It was bothering him a lot and interfering with his vision.

He's much younger than the usual droopy eye patient so the healing was rapid and uneventful. He did, however, get a lot of teasing about that shiner his wife gave him, lol. The bruising was pretty impressive for two or three days!

I hope that your doctor decides that your vision can benefit from the surgery.

Mine are droopy but I am not going to volunteer for another surgery...I have more coming up and don't know what the future holds so for now I won't worry about my eyelids...In the next week or two I am having fiducial markers placed into my only good lung through a brochoscopy tube and I am the going to do a little on the table twilight sleeping for that...I worry that one of these days, I might not wake up and I would hate it to be for something like my droopy eyelids...

I'm not volunteering for surgery. Last time I went, they checked the eyelids, and the droopinness wasn't considered severe enough for surgery.

Going for a regular eye exam.

Droopy eyelids!
