Priceless is right! What a wonder nature is... all it takes is one tiny spark of life to light that fire! You're very lucky to be in a climate where hippeastrums can be planted directly in the garden... that looks like a xJohnsonii bloom... a bed of those in full flower would look wonderful! I do hope they bloom for you in the future!

Just an update: our contractor arranged for a KA certified repairman to come today. As you all suspected, it was a clogged drain line. The repair guy said it was better to remove the gasket rather than notch it - he said it's a tight space and is near the compressor, so it tends to get plugged up from the heat and pressure. He said he's done this at least 100 times, on all models of bottom freezer refrigerators. My contractor was very anxious to confirm it wasn't his fault. This all began after they installed the water line, so I was afraid there had been some mistake. It probably wasn't totally unrelated, since they kept the fridge in the kitchen throughout the demo but unplugged it repeatedly to move itmultiple times, frame it, and also to do a heavy up at the outset of the project. But it wasn't their error, clearly. This being a high cost area, I paid $145 for the fix, but truthfully I'm glad it wasn't more! (not long ago a clogged washer drain wound up costing $1k just for the plumber - I'm pretty sure we were fleeced on that one!) Thanks so much to all of you for pointing me in the right direction!

Hi Country Girl. What a conundrum this is proving to be! Rambling Rector should form pretty sprays of tiny red hips, if not deadheaded (obviously!), splayed out all round at a wide angle from the peduncle.... The formation of the spray you show higher up doesn't look quite right to produce that formation - the pedicles seem to be held all roughly pointing in the same direction. I don't remember RR's blooms ever being quite that yellow, but I could well be mistaken. The general effect was a mass of scented, creamy-white blossom. RR is a multiflora hybrid (acc. to HMF). I'm not knowledgeable about IDing the different kinds of ramblers, but Altorama mentioned above that the stipules on your rose didn't seem 'eyelashy' enough to be multiflora. Perhaps this doesn't necessarily apply to all hybrids of MF, though - I don't know. Just re some other suggestions - Goldfinch (another multiflora hybrid) should be thornless, I understand, as discussed earlier - a pity! I think the blooms are too small for either Aviator Bleriot or Allister Stella Grey, and maybe for Aglaia too. I'm not familiar with Danae, but Trier always seems to have some shadings of soft pink/peach, particularly in the buds - from which the Rev. Pemberton developed all those lovely subtly coloured Hybrid Musks. Although, as I said, I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject, a once bloomer with little sprays of blooms and the laterals all coming off the main cane, do indicate some sort of rambler to me. I think that means the blooms will form on older wood only, not the current season's growth - maybe a clue to look for. There are loads of wonderful old ramblers with sprays of creamy-white blossom, but as far as I know they almost always have sprays of small to tiny, red or orange hips. Therefore, perhaps the fact yours stay green - if they definitely do - might be a useful key to whittling the list down to which yours is? Could you not send photos through to RU and ask them what they think it is? Perhaps it may not even be something off their regular listings - possibly something they were sent by mistake, or a seedling they chose not to breed from? I hope some of these musings may be helpful and/or spark something off for someone else... Comtesse

Nancy have you ever bought from Harmon Hill daylilies? they have one that looks very similar . Look at the site under the V's there is one near the bottom of the page called VT Rose on Pink . Another possibility is Flying Carpet registered at 32" but flower is only registered at 5.5 inches
