What are you doing this weekend?

Posted by satine (My Page) on

Just sitting here wondering what plans everyone has for the weekend. Im not doing anything until Sunday when I am going with a friend to a state park about 2 hours from here. We will stay overnight and hopefully have a relaxing restful time. There is a lake to enjoy and an indoor pool and I stopped at Goodwill and picked up a couple of good books. Looking forward to getting away and coming back refreshed and renewed! Hope you all have something wonderful planned. Satine

Going with a friend to visit a dear one, who is under hospice care. Don't know how much longer she will be with us, she's 84.

Rest of weekend, I don't know. Will be quiet as usual!

DD#2 has her son, DDIL, and their two kids visiting them, and DD#4 and I are going to go up there, about an hour away, to help celebrate the two little girls' birthdays. DD#3 and her SO will be joining us, so should be fun.

Tomorrow morning--cleaning and straightening.

DD is planning on dropping in tomorrow afternoon. She and a friend are going to a wine-tasting tomorrow evening. Friend lives not too far from us. So they decided to have dinner here, before they go to their event. I'm making it something easy--Chicken baked with Spaghetti sauce and Mozzarella (not breaded, so I hesitate to call it chicken Parm); mini cheese ravioli, salad, and some of the homemade ice cream I made earlier in the week.

Sunday? Don't know yet. DH is wiring the basement for the freezer we want to buy, he'll prob. still be working on that little project. I'll most likely be watching the Olympics.

Sounds wonderful, Satine. You deserve a nice break. Enjoy. Me? I'm just going to do some cleaning, some ironing and play a little catch-up around here. I have too much fun during the week!

Leaving in the morning, to go north a bit, for a antique wooden boat show. We have tried to get there for several years, but always had to change plans. I think we just might pull it off this year!

RE: What are you doing this weekend?

I don't always know what I will be doing. I do plan to go with Cheryl to some rummage sales in the morning. I also need to straighten up the garage and try to find room to store the green beans and things I have been canning. If I have the energy I may be picking green beans.

RE: What are you doing this weekend?

This is the last weekend with little one, she has been here since the beginning of June, I take her to her new home in FL on Monday. She insists that she is going back to CA, I am not saying a word, going to let her mother deal with it! Lol. So, lots of swimming and playing this weekend. Going to be a very sad Monday. Christmas vacation can't get here quick enough.

Very best friend from high school is flying down in the morning to spend four days with me. Even though I visit her in Northern Calif once or twice a year, she hasn't been down to So. Calif in over ten years. Four whole days of fun in the sun!

My Mom and I will attend an Italian Festival today, probably leave around noon. It's a cool, rainy morning here - something we haven't seen for a very long time. Feel sorry for the festival planners but the crops and gardens need all the rain they can get.

I'm going to my youngest sisters today. She's hosting a family picnic......our Mom's side of the family. I don't know what I'll get into the rest of the weekend.

My old car is dying, so I have to deal with its latest repair and then go car shopping. I always buy used cars, so it is especially painful. I'm looking forward to having a new car but not the shopping process.

This morning I volunteered at a political campaign office and then came home and took a nap. Tomorrow is church and out to lunch afterwards. Then tomorrow evening is training for a BIG political event on Monday. I am so excited about Monday. I haven't seen that guy since 2008.

Tomorrow my son and I are attending a "hamfest" - a flea market for ham radio operators. We go to four of these every summer. Each is about an hour away, and we usually leave the house before 5:00 a.m. to get there by 6:00. Tomorrow's event starts "late," so we won't have to leave until 5:45 a.m. We always have a good time. I sell, and he buys.

Today we were all outdoors, weeding and mowing.

I am home from hospital recuperating from brain surgery...benign tumor removed on wed. Feeling a bit punky... to say the least.
Taking it slow and lovin every min. of it.

Spending money. :(

The "Money Pitt"; aka "The Little House of Horrors on the Prairie" and its detached garage are getting a new roofs.

DH's truck had to get new tires, new brakes, and new "ball joints," (do trucks get arthritis?) this weekend, too.

Saving for the new kitchen has, once again, taken the far back seat.

But I have a roof over my head...and it's paid for.

gemini40 - here's wishing you a speedy recovery. You definitely should be taking it easy.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood here. Not too hot, not too chilly, lots of sunshine. Haven't done much, finally pulled the "Love In a Mist" vine out of its pot on the porch, removed and saved the seeds from the dried seed pods; had some coffee and yellow watermelon for lunch; then got the grabber out and proceeded to pick up trash along the road. Someone either threw out a styrofoam cooler or it fell from a vehicle and smashed in the ditch. Half of the many pieces were in the ditch the other up on top in the farmer's field. I decided I'd pick up what I could reach. What a mess.

I was halfway down the road when a neighbor stopped and told me to "Hop in!" she was headed to their sheep shed up the road and wanted to show me the meadow and how pretty it was with all the wild blooming weeds. So I lay down my trash bag and grabber inside my garden gate and went for a ride. They own 28 acres over there and I never knew it.

Hope you make a speedy recovery, June. I have the same issues.

We had company for the week, and they left on Friday. Yesterday I was busy making two cakes- one for a 60th anniversary and one for an engagement party. Today I'm doing laundry and putting things back in order. Well, DH did the vacuuming and washed the floors on Friday after they left, I'm just working on washing towels and sheets etc.

Oh my gosh, gemini and susan...hope you both get well quickly!

Susan my tumor was in the pituitary area, and was immense.Where was your tumor? How long ago were you diagnosed? I was just diagnosed with this condition on 7.16.12 and had surgery 8-8-12.
Hope you are feeling better, keep me posted.

RE: What are you doing this weekend?

So glad your surgery is over, June. I'm sure that was a real scare. Keep on taking it easy and thankful to enjoy every day. Your strength will be back soon enough.

RE: What are you doing this weekend?

Just canned 5 pints of tomato basil sauce type stuff. I use it in spaghetti sauce, or as pizza sauce. Hadn't canned in AGES.

Just canned all the rest of the tomatoes and peppers. Now, there should be only one here, and one there... as there are only a very few on the plants.

Worked. Tired now.

RE: What are you doing this weekend?

June, I had a large tumour removed from my parietal lobe on March 4, 2011, after being diagnosed in January 2011. I also have a left cerebellopontine angle tumour- it's large for that area, but both are/were benign. I'm not looking forward to that surgery. I guess there's a size cutoff for the most desirable surgical technique for my type of tumour, but mine was already too big for that when they found it.

I hope you feel better soon. Be sure to take things nice and slow.

Thanks Pam_25f.

RE: What are you doing this weekend?

Sue anykind of surgery can be a nightmare...my tumor was removed going up through the nose, no stitches at all. Surgery lasted 5 hours, and was the size of a tennis ball when all was said and done. The MRI's showed it to be about the size of a golf ball.
That was bad enough.lol. Very glad I was unaware of just how large it was.
I am taking it easy, which is something I tend NOT to do, have 1st follow up appt tomorrow am.

When are they going to do the second surgery on you Sue?
I was so happy to come home saturday for one reason...to get some sleep. OMG needles, blood tests just go on round the clock...no rest for the weary in a hospital these days.

RE: What are you doing this weekend?

They told me mine was the size of a golf ball too, but it was bigger when they went in. They went in near the top of my head, on the left side.

As for the timing of the other surgery, they're playing it by ear. It's largely up to me and how much "disturbance" I can handle right now. But this second surgery is apparently terrible- I will lose hearing in one ear and my equilibrium will be messed up for a couple of months, and that's "best case scenario". I'm trying to psych myself up for fall, but I've been given instructions on certain things that indicate an immediate crisis. The darned thing is exerting some "mass effect" on my brain stem, which does cause some problems. I'm just putting off this surgery for as long as I can.

I can relate to what you said about coming home to get some rest- it's so much easier to rest at home!
