Another SS question

Although of course I would suggest she contact SS for this info, it's interesting to ponder.

What if someone has been separated from her husband for 40 years and never divorced (don't know why) and doesn't know where exactly he is. Some how she knows he is still living. I would think she can draw off his SS without a problem when the time comes.

Some situations so different from the norm, hmm?

Yes indeed, Moonie, some situations are so different from the 'norm.'

It occurs to me that is likely the main reason another Poster was told over two dozen times to seek professional help from the S.S. office directly.

Even a very knowledgeable lay person who has had personal help from the S.S. could inadvertently steer a person wrong with tragic consequences.

wow...that is an interesting situation....for sure you'd have to see ss in person...one wonders what about income tax as well??

Zone 4a and this will be my fifth year doing this. I start around new years, typically with hardy perennials in my zone, shurbs/trees and seeds that i don't really care about (e.g. old seeds). I typically wait until late February to start putting out a lot of my annuals, and I leave the following til the end of march or early april: zinnias sunflowers ornamental millet abutilon dolichos lablab morning glories 4 o'clocks cosmos and pretty much anyhting tropical in origin Most of these will sprout if sown earlier, but their foliage is sufficiently tender that I lose them in the cold nights we have earlier in the winter/spring. If I wait til then, they typically don't pop til mid april or later and i typically don't have to worry about the seedlings freezing then.

DD - 603SS vs 605SS and finish questions

Based on the available cycle choices and descriptions, the 605 model does *not* appear to have a soil sensor. They're the same cycles and sequences as all the models have always featured. The silverware basket is redesigned, the 605 series apparently uses slightly less water, does not have the extended dry option, and some of the target temperatures are a little higher than my 4-year-old 603. Newer 603s also may have different temperatures. Cycle temperatures have occasionally changed slightly within a particular model series. The product description mentions "triple flood protection," which I don't recall seeing that before .. but does not provide further details on what are the three guard methods.

It looks like you make the toe first, then you crochet along the top 7 stitches to make the part that goes over the top of the toes, the instep. You decrease as you finish the instep. Next, you crochet down the side of the instep, picking up stitches along the ends of the rows, continue around the bottom and up the other side of the instep. Does that answer your question? Also, did you check your gauge? If your gauge is off, you can end up with the wrong size.

I don't have Tramontina Tri-Ply Clad Cookware. I am only guessing. Any container, as long as there is water in it, the temperature will not go beyond water boiling point (normal atmospheric pressure). That's why you can actually boil water with a paper container. However, do go with the Manufacturer's recommendations. My "tip" for clad cookware is when you are cooking on a stove, over heating the pot and you can delaminate the cladding or cause the metal to warp. Aluminum and S Steel have different thermal expansion coefficient. dcarch

Yes, I definitely made a mistake in titling this subject.

In the other SS thread, the OP said her ex had moved away and somewhere along the way it brought my co-worker to mind. It made me wonder how she would approach this in the future.

Maybe she already has the answers to these potential problems... and they aren't problems at all. I just found it thought-provoking.

I hope Moonie's co-worker's 'missing' DH hasn't racked up debt, because she could be liable for it as his legal spouse.

It's just not smart to let 'iffy' *legal* status just rock along. They will get sorted eventually, and possibly in ways those involved won't like.

The Internal Revenue Service taxes social security benefits, but the maximum amount they tax is 85% of your yearly SS benefits. The percentage of benefits taxed depends on your total annual income.

Fourteen states tax social security benefits. They are Colorado, Connecticut, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia. The remaining states, as well as Washington, D.C., do not tax social security benefits.

Social security does not automatically withhold tax. If you don't want to have to make quarterly tax payments, you have to fill out a form (it's IRS Form W-4V) for the SSA, telling them how much you want withheld each month. Your choices are 7%, 10%, 15%, or 25%.
