Well, your day sounds half scary and half good ! I'm having scrambled eggs with chopped green onions in them. Love some of that ham to go with it-I like a slice fried crisp. Glad nobody was hurt.

My day was much, much quieter than yours, jasdip. Glad to hear you finally got your ham dinner today. That's one of my favorites.

I found a small beef roast in the freezer so made that today along with potatoes, carrots and wedges of cabbage around it.

We had meatloaf mashed potatoes and corn. August here is a great time for sweet corn and we take advantage of it. $3.00 a dozen at the farm stand we go to.
If you followed the case, you probably know the two kidnapped Amish girls are home and the kidnappers are caught. It is awful to realize that people like this are in our community.

My day was also much quieter. Had breakfast out with DH, and ran a couple of errands. Dinner will be mashed potatoes with turkey breast and gravy. I'll make a veg to go with, but I haven't decided what yet.

Departed the lakefront this morning when a fog rolled in with cold 70.The alternate was sunny & warm for Happy Hour. Made up some cheap "Hamburger Goulash". A ham bone should dictate bean soup?

So happy about the girls. But they should not have been out there alone. Hopefully a man relative will stay with them if they sell out there again.

It's common to have the Amish girls selling at the end of the driveway here as well. Pam, I saw the news article too and it mentioned that this may not have been the first abduction by this couple!!

Regarding the hose breaking, we're lucky that no one was doing laundry at the time. It seems that either me, or the landlord's mom is doing laundry almost every day. There are 5 of them living in the apartment below us. We're the top floor of the triplex, they live on the second floor and the basement apt is a single man.

Jasdip I have never boiled a ham! Do you not do baked hams there? I love a ham and yes at my house that bone would mean ham bone soup or with beans.

Our neighbor returned home from the Gulf this afternoon and brought us some big, fresh shrimp! Unexpected and much appreciated! We opted to saute them in a little butter and spicy hot seasonings and serve them over a big salad.....mixed spring greens plus arugula, tomatoes, rat's tail radish, cukes, avocado, canteloupe pieces and a creamy buttermilk tomato dressing.

I saved enough shrimp for my lunch tomorrow, yay!

Oh, we just watched the rest of Season 1 of Last Tango in Halifax, so I haven't come back to comment on anyone's dinners. I've got tears in my eyes. We love that show. But wow is Jillian one screwed-up woman.

Raven, I buy the large old-fashioned ham with a bone that's wrapped in netting. Boil it for about 4 hours and put potatoes and green beans in with it. Lots of ham leftover for future meals. Hubby is looking forward to ham and french toast or pancakes.

Neither of us like ham soup, split pea and ham and other similar soups. I'm hoping to make a quiche as well, and hubby said he would try it.

I've never boiled a ham either. We slow roast, and do the green beans and taters on the side. One of hubby's favorite meals.
(Who am I kidding ... I cook so seldom anymore, that anything I put in front of him is his "favorite"!)

I just had a Big Az burger, which is a microwaveable cheeseburger. I didn't feel very good...just knew I needed to eat something. I took the cheese off of it...was going to fix it up with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickle and mustard but decided to not bother...ate it just meat and bread. Ate most, shared the rest a bite here and there with one of the cats, one of the dogs, and two of the possums. Jody ate before he got home.

I will eat it, but it isn't something I fix at home because I am not that fond of it. But boiled ham............that is something to consider, and green beans and potatoes..........perfect!

My Sunday was so busy I did not have time to post my supper. All forenoon I worked fixing a meal to take to Amber's for dinner. I baked a ham in the oven, baked beans, mac and cheese, cucumber salad and a banana zucchini cake. All the kids were at Amber's and we all enjoyed being together. I did not get home till 9 that night. Supper there was from Papa John's, they had everything half price so we got pizza, bread sticks, and wings plus some root beer and a big chocolate chip cooky to share with everyone.
