... a familiar face from "Mr. Selfridge". She's playing Mary, John Watson's almost-fiancee.

Did you spot her? (She and 'Watson' are together in real life as well.) She doesn't have much to do in "Sherlock", but I thought she was very good in "Selfridge" , playing...

...Miss Mardle.

This is a re-running of Season 1. Give John and Mary a chance. Season 3, which is what won all the emmys last night, puts Mary into a front and center roll.

I would say its a disease, nutritional issues don't make spotting like that. The lower leaves are just dead spots, I don't see signs of any spores on those spots. There is a chance it could be black rot, but it could also be some more obscure disease. I don't think its scab. If you sent the lower type of leaf for diagnosis all the spores could have been dead. The upper leaves look like the active infection eating at the leaf. A few years ago someone had a similar looking thing and there was no conclusion on the diagnosis. I linked the thread below. Reds are notorious for saturating digital camera sensors if one does not take appropriate measures when photographing them, producing effects such as 'shine' and off-colours (pinkish or magenta). On top of that, judging colour subtleties from a random picture (assumingly not under a controlled colour managed process from exposure through processing and publishing to viewing in one's browser) is always an iffy proposition. Having said that I trust Micheal's experience. To me it looks like Mr. Lincoln but so would a number of other bright red HT's. PS. I think the poster should let us know to what extent the pics look thruthful to the real thing (even then what one sees in one's browser maybe different from what another person sees in his). It's usually my DH who spots the identity of an actor we've seen in another role. He didn't believe me until I made him stop the credits to find Amanda and cross check that she had played Miss Mardle.

We record PBS and dip into the recordings between movies and (mostly British) TV mystery/detective series from our library.

(We've also found Gregory Fitoussi from "Selfridge" in a French TV series, "Spiral".)

We're easily amused!

yes she comes to her own...listen carefully! it one pbs series I have to "sit up" and watch...love the after remarks...

anyone watching the new "morse" as a young detective? miss the music from the original...they once said the morse code heard in it, sometimes told who the bad guy was...

We watched the second of the three newer "Sherlocks" this afternoon. I had to locate that gorgeous reception hall. It's the Orangerie at Goldney Hall in Bristol. The film crew must have added the beautiful yellow murals on the wall behind the wedding party. I don't see them in the photos of the hall itself.

Yes, we enjoy the 'younger Morse' series, "Endeavor". I always found the older Morse too depressing. These do a lot to explain how the detective became so world weary.
