Here is the recipe.
All Natural Bug Spray (to spray on you)

4 drops citronella essential oil
4 drops lemongrass essential oil
4 drops rosemary essential oil
4 drops eucalyptus essential oil
4 drops mint essential oil
1/4 cup pure witch hazel

Directions

1. Add all ingredients into a small glass or plastic atomizer. Shake.

2. Shake well and apply liberally.

I pour Listerine into a spray bottle and spray around me and in the air when I'm sitting on the porch.

It's not been proven that it is a repellant but it works for me.

You can also use just lemongrass oil with some rubbing alcohol, lemongrass smells really nice. see the link

I buy natural mosquito repellant lotion that contains all of those items. It smells really good and works pretty well too. I don't use regular bug spray because it freaks me out to spray poison all over my body (of course I don't live in a West Nile or Malaria area either, thank goodness!).

ellendi, in Seattle I get essential oils at a little shop at Pike Place Market, but they also sell them at Whole Foods and most Natural Food stores. You could also get them online.
