What's for Dinner ... Tuesday?

Hot and humid here in my part of Ohio. I feel sorry for the kids in school already. Our schools aren't air conditioned.

I have been looking for fordhook lima beans for several years. Finally, today Drug Mart had them (along with the Seasoning Blend I like so well). I will have a turkey burger w/slice of onion on a romaine lettuce leaf, potato salad, and a healthy portion of fordhook limas.

So what plans have you made (or already had) for your main meal today?

Our schools all start on Tuesday, and they aren't air-conditioned either. Heck of a hot and humid day here too! Hottest day in a month, easily.

I had a zucchini and some peppers that needed to be used up so I made a pasta primavera. I also put carrots and onions in it as well.

I made chicken piccata to go with it.

I have been gone all afternoon with Cheryl. We were helping Terri pack up things to take to Mandy's, so I just got home and we made a stop by McDonald's for me a fish sandwich and fries. Water to drink. Very hot here to day with some showers this afternoon.

I made a great roast beef with potatoes, onions, mushrooms, and I roasted carrots separately. It made a wonderful thick brown gravy to go over rice. It was wonderful. Had the neighbors over for dinner and a visit. I had picked up some home grown tomatoes at the farmers market and sliced up some of those too.

Grilled some salmon on a cedar plank, always so good. Made a salad with greens and marinated veggies from the garden, a little rice pilaf. Awfully hot here today, even though the patio and back porch are shaded after about ten, you could feel the heat radiating from the concrete. Glad that the salmon didn't take very long!

It's all about stuff from the garden these days. I've fixed a marinated salad of zucchini ribbons, rat tail radish, grape tomatoes, cukes, chard, quinoa, and goat cheese. (I don't have a goat in my garden and don't raise quinoa, lol.) Robert is getting ready to grill some sliced pork tenderloin, also marinated, to add to the meal. We had another big storm this afternoon, which cooled things off a lot even though it's steamy. If I wore glasses anymore, they would fog up when I go outside. It is "the air that you wear", that's for sure.

My husband has said he will grill the nice bone in ribeye steaks we picked up and I am cooking fresh corn on the cob to go with it and sliced farm tomatoes. Beautiful day but oh so hot!! still over a hundred right now and will likely stay there for a while. I am headed to the atrium to turn on my sprinkler system I have set up in there. I can make it rain! LOL the plants and birds love it!

Hot and humid. Several of the local schools are letting students go home early. When I was in school, we did not have a/c and we stayed the entire day. Maybe that is why I enjoy the a/c so much!

I found some stew meat in the freezer, it has been slow cooking all afternoon. I have tossed in some carrots and I'll also serve rice pilaf.

Jim, your dinner sounds so good!

I agree about no a/c and staying all day. I also heard on the news that "because high school kids need 8-10 hours of sleep" they're thinking of starting the school day at 10 am! I'm sorry, but maybe they should get off their phones and tablets etc and just go to bed and sleep.

Jasdip....are you serious??? That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard in ages. The darned parents need to see to it that their kids get to bed at a reasonable hour. It's a parent issue, not a school issue. If that catches on, we will soon be a country full of ignorant adults. Grrrrr.

ANYhoo! I've marinated chicken thighs in seasoned buttermilk all day and we'll grill them. I'll chop up some garden veggies to put in the grill pan, too. My summer squash is still growing well.

Shirley, I'm so surprised that you can't find Fordhook limas. They're always in the frozen foods section wherever I've lived. So glad you found some and hope that you stocked up. I like to cook them with smoked sausage (like kielbasa) slices. Yum.

Off for lab work after work. Love that place, in & out in like 6 minutes. Stopped at the store, then some quick cheap gas before it jumps 20ÃÂ¢ by morning. By now the storm had moved off for sunny blue sky. Supper was done, so pack the cooler for Happy Hour down at the sandbox. The intense sun helped overpower the cool 80ÃÂ°. Delicious leftovers and a donut. Now looking for some munchies, and ice cream.

Turkey burgers, zucchini....yummm! I'm hungry. Everyones' meals sound so good!
Marilyn_Sue, I get the fish at McDonald's too.

I'm making buffalo chicken, french fries, and a veg (TBD). Off to go make dinner now.

We were suppose to go to a fancy French restaurant tonight to celebrate my birthdayÃ¢ÂÂ¦..pulled a muscle in my back and it's been a little painful so I didn't feel like getting all dressed up. We went for Chinese instead. I had a fish with pine nuts and sweet and sour sauce. It was deliciousÃ¢ÂÂ¦DH had some beef stir fried. We both have leftovers so I don't have to worry about dinner tomorrow either.

Jasdip: Your meal sounds very good and very healthy. What a stupid idea to start school so late.

Sue: I hope you gals got a lot of stuff done today. Just today I got McDonalds coupons in the mail. Most are BOGO free, including the fish. They hadn't included that for a long time.

Jim: Slow cookers are nice year round but really nice when it's so hot. Enjoy your stew and pilaf.

Ravencajun: Meatballs in a lasagna sounds different and good. Plus no cooking....can't beat that.

Rhizo: You're having a great meal tonight. Do you grill out a lot? I haven't had the beans for years. Yes, they're frozen. I used to have some in the freezer all the time, till they disappeared around here.

Old Fixer: Leftovers and many desserts. What is your favorite ice cream?

Alice: Your meal sounds good too. It seems like it would be fairly easy too. I think it was you that gave me the idea to have Spanish Rice.

Georgysmom: I'm sorry to hear about your back. It's a bonus though that your Chinese meals will serve you again tomorrow.

Shirley, we grill outside most nights, it seems. Chicken, fish (salmon on a cedar plank for example), kabobs, marinated veggies in a grill basket, steak, chops, you name it! It's a no bells and whistles Weber and when (if) it ever wears out, we'll replace it with the same thing. :-)

I hope your limas were as good as you hoped. I may have to pick some up for myself soon.
