Shirley, "they" didn't. My daughter forwarded their link to the grands... and what are we going to do... besides order?

Getting an "old house" and simple life magazines. I like both, and buy them occasionally now.

This will be my third and fourth magazine... and that will be it for me.

It's just that I forgot all about that "sell magazines for school" thing.

I remember selling garden seeds when I was in grade school. And that was a LONG time ago. Mom mostly bought some but wouldn't let us go out and sell. I guess the email thing is just keeping up with times. : * )

Gosh, when I was a kid school didn't start until mid September.

I guess the schools are competing for the $. I like the idea of magazines more than the Christmas wrap or candy. So hard to say no to kids.

Yep. I don't like any of the Girl Scout cookies but I always cough up for a few boxes.

HOt hot hot, too hot for football games, and there were several high schools that played in the afternoon, today, and temps were in the 90's.

I was on trip into Kentucky two weeks ago and in some counties, they were starting school. In Wisconsin, school starts next week. Some introductory things happened this week for the youngest students. A few years ago (Wisconsin), school starts were delayed until after Labor Day by the influence of tourism lobbyists because resort owners wanted their temporary summer help to be available for the holiday. I'm not sure if this is still in place anymore after the schools having to use 3 or more 'snow days' for the last several winters. Snow days over the quota has to be made up by adding days at the end of the school year.

I did see school buses making practice runs of their routes. Some drivers use their private cars for this and are not obvious.
