do you wash your dishes before you wash your dishes?
Comments (20)One of the reasons to *not* rinse/prewash dishes is if you use an enzyme detergent it needs the food particles to work better. It'll etch glass and stuff if it doesn't have the food particles. I can't explain it well, but it's easy research for a more thorough explanation. Most just recommend scraping the dishes (and really, who wouldn't?!) then into the DW. I haven't had a dishwasher for more than 30 years but I'm starting to miss it. I would get grossed out though when it left stuff on it. When washing by hand and using a good soap it gets clean. Sure, you just put it back in and rewash but it still bugs me. It also bugs me to see people leave dirty dishes in the DW for a week before washing them. Argh! If it takes a week to fill it, you should have a smaller DW or use a top rack only feature. This is what impresses me about the F&P Dish Drawers. And geez, I can wash a few dishes FAR faster than an hour or two for a dishwasher! LOL And when you compare the time to load the dishwasher vs washing, it's pretty close. Time's not a factor. It's the hassle of washing them. I soak my dishes and a quick swish, rinse in HOT water and into the drainer to dry. Putting them away is comparable to time in a DW. Oh, and one thing I found out quickly, the way you load it makes a big difference. You have to learn how the water sprays and make sure it's not blocked for effective washing....See Moreomg omg!...i did it!!
Comments (55)I call them Dream Merchants. Really they are not selling a product but a dream. Went to one Amway party and the poor presenter spent an hour "explaining" to me that it was not about selling dreams. Alas, the first page in the Amway sales book says you have to "sell the dream". Pretty certain I ruined his Amway career. The scam is to sucker people into selling carp for you. You get them excited about being rich without having to actually work. Show a pyramid chart and talk about the hundred if not thousands of people that will soon be "working" for you. Stop to show some pictures of a tropical beach location. Continue by projecting huge wealth if thousands of people all sell this stuff for you everyday. End up by noting that some people deserve fabulous wealth and it can be theirs if only they cough up a hundred bucks to join your sales team. Not everyone wants to be wealthy so not everyone joins your team.... don't you want to be filthy stinking rich without working? I got sucked in by AFLAC. Fresh out of college and looking for a job anywhere. Being an "Insurance Agent" seems almost like a real job. I actually sold a few dozen policies before the reality set in. Just because you establish a customer does not mean that you own that account. No, your Regional Sales Manager has the right take over your accounts because you fail to sell them more insurance every month. Last sales meeting I was threatening to turn the RSM upside down and bounce him on his head. Had to quit before I gave into violent temptations. : ) lyra...See MoreCan this stoneware be saved?
Comments (3)It make take several treatments with baking soda paste to completely do the job. Each time that you treat it more baked on grease will come off. Also, after using it for things like hamburgers clean it with Dawn Power Dissolver. This product is found in most supermarkets. It will dissolve "newly" baked on grease like magic. I love this product for removing the sticky gunk (polymerized oil) that forms on my stainless steel appliances from grease splatter. Stainless steel is famous for turning grease into a sticky gunk on its surface. This product is a lifesaver for cleaning chrome plated or stainless steel fry baskets. Comments (31)Last year my sister gave me one of those chopper thingies from PC. She swears by it, but I have yet to try it. I like using a knife too much! This year she gave me a bottle/jar opener. I suppose I'll try it if and when I come across something I can't open by hand. That hasn't happened in a while though. As for the garlic press, I have the OXO. I really like the fixed cleaner, but aside from that I'm not too impressed. A lot squeezes out the sides. One of these days I'll buy a Zyliss which has gotten CI's top vote for years. Generally I like OXO. I have a friend who used to have "parties" for a different company. Until she realized her friends, neighbors and fellow parishoners were avoiding eye contact with her for fear of being asked to go to another party....See Morejak1
