There is a post here about someone charging their phone in a friend's car.
Well, if I was out with a friend, and needed to charge my phone, I would ask first.
I disagree that cell phones are a curse on the modern world.And it is smart to keep your phone fully charged.

Not me....my cell phone saved my life a few years ago, when I was out and alone. If I didn't have my phone on me. I wouldn't have be here now.

I was alone that day, and felt faint....somehow got to my car, and almost fell into it, couldn't see, but groped for my phone, and dialed 911. I was in such a confused state, I couldn't describe my location...
The phone's GPS identified my location to 911, and when they got there, they had to use CPR on me..I came to when they were putting me into the ambulance.

I carry my phone at all times, even in the house.

Yikes!

so glad you could call 911!

It really is a good idea to have a cell phone, & of course you gotta keep it charged.

Even if all the bars appear on the battery indicator, I always plug my phone in "just in case" whenever we have severe weather warnings or tornado alerts.

I also keep my phone charged. Just in case of an emergency.
And when I am alone in the house it is always with me.

I believe both do have bluetooth but I never learned to use it. I will check it out. owbist; I always forget about youtube. However, I didn't see anything useful in your list. Remember, I had essentially succeeded in making a sim card transfe, but the data was not complete. The one on point post from your list also indicated incomplete data fields. I actually found that my transfer was worse than I originally thought. It only transferred the contact name and lost both the fact that the next contact was identical and thus a subset, but also lost any indication of the type of phone (work, home etc) and listed ALL entries as 'mobile'.

Just a funny story about cell phones, that happened to me, last year. I was a supervisor in an examination at my DS school. It was a serious exam and about 100 students where in the school hall, nervous and anxious. They had all been told they must leave there cell phones (in Australia we call them mobile phones) on a table near the door. They where also told they must be turned off. Well half way through the exam one of the phones on the table starting playing a stupid song, ringing. I rushed over to the table and frantically looked through all the phones, trying to stop the noise. I finally did that, but students where restless. Then to my horror I realized about half the phones where switched on ! There must have been about 90 of them. So I spent ages, and ages, turning them off, all these different phones. Some I just could not work out how to do it, as I am technologically challenged to say the least. So next exam, I made sure, I stood near that table and said in a big lound voice "make sure they are turned off, please!". Phones, stressing me out ! Popi

Verizon doesn't use SIM cards. The SIM cards are for GSM service, which is used by AT&T. I'm not familiar with the Chocolate phone, but on my Nokia 6126, if I want to assign a ringtone or graphic to someone, when I push the appropriate button to get to the tones/graphics, there will be some choices. My ringtones and graphics that are on my MicroSD card are all in a folder named Lindsey's. Are you seeing folders that you can open? If so, scroll down through them, opening each one until you find the one with your ringtones.

I'm going to say the answer is Yes, same data usage either way. If you want to be sure, call the carrier. Another thing to do is to ask them to turn off their data and maximize the use of Wifi connections on the trip and at home between now and the end of the billing cycle. (Wifi to public locations like a hotel, Starbucks, McD's, libraries, not to one of the other phones) Some carriers charge less for overages if you buy it in advance (temporarily up your monthly quota and then drop it after the billing period ends), others don't. You can ask about how that works when you call, if that concerns you.

Monica, that's very scary and a great reminder to keep cellphones charged and available at all times. Were they able to determine the cause of your collapse?

Wow, Monica! So glad you had that phone with you!

I got my first cell phone for emergencies. It was a "bag" phone. Just dawned on me that that was 20 years ago.

My dad always had his on him but never had it on~lol.

I am one who is very happy you were able to get to your phone and use it! You are a wonderful friend to us all here! That is one reason my phone is always in my pocket. You just never know.

I thought about carrying my phone with me around the house but I usually don't. There have been times when the dogs trip me in the sunroom and I wonder what would happen if I actually fell out there and hit my head or broke something and couldn't get up, with no one around. I guess I would become dog food after they got hungry enough.

I keep mine in my pocket,& my keys in the other pocket. If someone were to steal my purse they are not getting my car or my phone!

My mother, 86, finally carries hers when she leaves her apartment, after i kind of scolded her for not taking it down to play cards, etc. Last fall, though, she tripped right after getting up, smashed against her coffee table and broke her jaw in two places. Much bleeding. Thankfully, she had her life-alert type thing on and managed to push it. I shudder to think what may have happened otherwise.
