You said it for me O.J. Every day is vacation for me and I'm enjoying every minute of it. I enjoy the beauty around me, my friends, and my family. I feel very blessed.

what should be a holiday for us is checking fil into Medicaid nursing home...it's so difficult....but necessary....so a real vacation seem to be gone again for this year...at least he's in a good place..and just around the corner from where dh grew up...full circle...

I took one about three weeks ago - cost me $50,000! I bought a house and that figure is from the down payment, plane fare, hotel, car rental, food - you know the drill.

Tomorrow is my last day of "staycation". I took from Wednesday off until this Monday. I couldn't work on the 30th as it was one year since my son died. I didn't want to be at work. Then my husband had an appointment on Thursday and Friday that I wanted to be a part of, so I took those days off. Monday was a civic holiday and I had an appointment on Tuesday for a leg scan. So I decided I may as well just take the week off, which turned out okay because on Wednesday the lab called me to see if I wanted my bakers cyst removed a month early so I went and did that so no more missed time. I finally painted my hallway (took 3 coats of primer/paint...2 gallons!). We've had this house almost 20 years and took the wallpaper down 10 years ago and I finally put my foot down and painted. It soaked right into the walls. LOL I think my house is thirsty. :) So, tomorrow is my last day of staycation and I plan on doing nothing.

We did go to Vancouver in April, but it wasn't a vacation. My husbands sister had a rapid growing lung cancer. She died just 3 weeks after being diagnosed. We left the house to see her at 11 in the morning. We were on the highway for 45 minutes when we got the call she died. We continued on our drive anyway, because my mother in law was there and my husband wanted to be there for her.

I think I'll save my vacation for the next year and take a full 3 weeks off next summer. I might even go somewhere.

We went to the GA mountains in March.

In June we wen tot he Grand Canyon, spur of the moment detour to Las Vegas Las Vegas (went to the Gold & Silver Pawn shop from Pawn Stars and also the Clark County Museum, Buddy V's (Cake Boss's restaurant), Hoover Dam, drove Rt 66 to CA and spent a week at Disney Land,

Today we just got back from a week at the beach (Madeira Beach FL).

School starts on the 18th. We cram vacations around the school schedule.

We just got back from a week in Maine. Mostly visiting my father-in-law in Rockport, but also going to my wife's cousin's lake cabin for sailing, hiking in a nearby nature preserve, visiting a winery, going to the annual Lobster Festival in Rockland, sea-kayaking in Camden Harbor, and meeting up with my wife's sister's family at Popham Beach on the way out of Maine.

It was fun-filled week, but a little bittersweet since her father said he'll probably not go back to Maine next year, and was starting looking into selling the house in Rockport.

Well, I don't get why I should plan my vacations around my heart health. That just seems like a giant buzzkill, plus a huge waste of time.

I think your connection was a huge stretch - oh, poor heart, it has to beat daily! Never a day off!

I care for my health daily, and if I want to take a vacation, I'm sure as hell not going to sit around in my hotel room contemplating my heart health - nor DH's heart health, even though he has heart problems.

You manage these things, and live anyway.

BTW, we are retired from jobs, but it doesn't mean our days are vacation days.

We just got back from a trip. We went to Maryland to see our daughter and granddaughter, On the way, stopped in at the Auburn Auro museum in Indiana and the 2nd largest genealogy library in the country at Fort Worth, Indiana. Next stop was the National Air museum at Dayton, OH. Got real close to the Black Bird, a really fast aircraft. Nest was daughter and g-daughter. After that, we visited libraries in Pike and Pu;aski counties, KY. In Pike Co. O found out that one of my ancestors had lived midst the infamous McCoy - Hatfield clans. Got another surprise: Hatfields and McCoys were buried in the same cemetry as my ancestor. After that, it was time to head back home.

Just got back from Sandy Eggo, LOVE it there so much! Stayed right on the beach, fell asleep each night listening to the waves. SOO peaceful.

We're going again in December providing we aren't mired under with snow!

In about a month, I'm leaving on my honeymoon. We're taking a train up from Southern California to Vancouver, BC, stopping in Portland for a few days on the way up. From there, we're taking a week-long Alaska cruise. We're taking the train back down, stopping in Seattle and San Francisco before returning home. I'm really excited - I've never been to any of these cities (or Alaska) before!

When we retired we bought a home in one of the areas that we often vacationed at. We sold our home in California and moved to a resort town in Arizona. Our home has a pool and we live on a lake that we love. We're boaters so anytime we want to go out and play on the water, we go. We go out and play in the sand in our UTV. If we want to get away, we usually don't have to go far. Vegas isn't that far, although we haven't been since we moved here over a year and a half ago. We are planning a trip to Utah and to New Mexico, but that will to wait until it's cooler. Right now it's just too darn hot here. In this Arizona heat we're never far from water or an A/C.

We both feel very lucky that we live in our vacation spot and can't see us living anywhere else. We always feel like we're on vacation.

As a retired person, the term vacation is a bit odd. The missus and I travel frequently, but we don't term that a vacation.

Fortunately, my heart is strong enough that it doesn't need any time off. My health care provider is worried that my pulse is generally in the mid-50s. I told him that I planned it that way to make it last longer. He looked at me as though I were not sane!
