How Beautiful!

| We were coming home last night, after meeting DD for dinner.
I was watching for one particular field, because sometimes there's a flock of wild turkeys there. There were turkeys, but there were deer--so many of them! I got to 19 before we were past the field and I had to stop counting. One gorgeous buck with an impressive set of antlers caught my eye, standing in the middle of his 'ladies'.
I've never seen so many at one time, in one place. It was just such a beautiful sight, I feel very lucky we happened by at the right time to catch them there. |

| They are indeed beautiful!! I don't understand hunters who look at such a magnificent animal and just see a potential trophy on the wall. |

all of the hunters in my family see a potential freezer full of food to feed their families. But I know what you mean some do only want a trophy. They are very beautiful animals that was quite a herd you saw there too bad you were not able to snap off a few pics. |

| Oh wow. I know that I would get a lump in my throat, seeing something magnificent like that. |

| While I could never, myself, be a hunter (I don't even eat store-bought turkey any more, now that we have wild turkeys living in our neighborhood), I'm okay with people hunting IF they use the animal for food. Not okay, for me, is when they kill a beautiful animal purely for 'sport' and to have the trophy. That's just sick, to my way of thinking. Do have a friend whose husband hunts, I will NOT be mentioning this sighting to either of them. |

| That is what I meant, people who don't hunt to feed their families, but just shoot an animal so they can hang a trophy on the wall. There was a recent article on CNN about trophy hunters who travel to Africa and other places to kill animals such as leopards and other beautiful creatures, just so they can display them. |

| Wow! I live in deer country and see them all the time, but never all together in such a large number. Lucky you! |

| I used to feed them in my yard and counted 28 one time! |

| Oh, lucky you. As many times as I've seen deer run across the road in my neighborhood, only once have I seen a buck....right on my driveway! I was so thrilled, I can only imagine how you must have felt to see a whole field of deer surrounding a buck. Spectacular. |

| In a state park many years ago in WVA where my husband had a conference, I was walking in the woods and suddenly there were deer who were not afraid of me. They kept on grazing and were just a few feet away from me. I never forgot that. Since I am almost a vegetarian (eat 1/2 pound of salmon and a piece of chicken a week) , needless to say I could not kill anything. It makes me sad when I eat the chicken thigh every week. People would be considerably healthier if they gave up meat. And if they saw slaughterhouses, many probably would. |

I live in SD and we wish there were more licenses issued for them. I myself have hit at least 3 of them and they cause a lot of damage to the vehicle. In May when we were going out to Michigan we hit one in Iowa. 3000 dollars we had our car fixed. I can't imagine how many accidents there would be if we did'nt have the hunters. One night we were going to the river to a resort for supper and in 30 miles we saw almost 60 of them. In the fall they start grouping into bigger herds and in the spring they separate into pairs. don't get me wrong I think they are beautiful. |
