Cops are above the law, rant

In other words, the law doesn't apply to them.

Self-policing has long been a bone of contention with me. No other industry has an inside decision maker, and 99% of the time, the police officer is never in the wrong. Even when it is his fault.

What r-e-a-l-l-y pees me off is when they get suspended *with pay*. How is that even allowed? No other profession gets a paid holiday. And these guys are VERY well compensated for doing their job.

Case in point, just last week an off-duty police officer was driving a Jeep with the doors taken off. He turned a corner too fast, his passenger was thrown from the vehicle (not wearing a seat belt, and in this day and age!) and subsequently died.

The officer was impaired! He's charged with impaired driving causing death and is now *suspended with pay*. God this makes me so angry.
