Did you have wind as well as heat? Was the humidity low? Dark red roses, for the most part, will have that problem. When we get Santa Ana winds -- dry, with high temps -- the blooms of 'Prospero' turn into instant potpourri. A few lighter-colored roses are bothered, too. "Grandmother's Hat" has very fragile petals, so they shrivel, at least around the edges. But reds generally speaking are hit disproportionately. Beyond that, your roses only having been in the ground for two weeks, they likely haven't much of a root system yet. If the weather is heating up, I would remove the blooms, and allow the plant to use the water it gets to help it grow roots. Jeri

Cheryl, you took the words off my keyboard, LOL, I was just thinking I need to write to JoAnn. So, JoAnn, I can relate. It was really quiet when I got home. I had soooo much fun with everyone at Cheryl's house. It is one hopping busy place. Now, I have worked and worked in my yard, did a nice bike ride with Mel, went here and there with Bongo, and looking forward to the club ride with Bongo tomorrow morning. I'm fairly computer literate - and I still am NOT a fan. I too was tired of them blowing up my e-mail box but I too got that fixed. The clippings gone and no ability to e-mail someone are BIG negatives for me. Not only that, when I confirmed from my work computer - I had issues signing on from my home computer. Crazy thing - I found a way around that from all the blow-ups in my e-mail box. But like Dawn - if you all are here then I'll find a way to feel "at home". And yes, Moni - the Spring Fling is going to be more of a challenge (than it is already!). Thanks to scottcalv - I just might get my mo-jo back by the end of February and not only have a garden - but host the Fling....again. =)

I struggle with forgiving others and myself all the time. When I used to be a professional hypnotist there was one session that I felt was very helpful. Please bear with me as I try to explain it. This is not meant for severe cases of abuse or mistreatment. You need to let go of bad feelings toward another person. This person has wronged you. To let go it helps for you to understand that what they did was based on several factors. Their education, how they were brought up, their physical health, their personality strengths and weaknesses, their current situation in life etc. Basically except that how they handled the situation was the "best" they knew how. Understand that maybe they don't have the self confidence or the social abilities that you do, etc. EX: Your parent was lacking in parenting skills. Understand that they maybe didn't have good role models, or that they were dealing with stress that you even know didn't know about, etc. So except that they did the best they could and let it go. You don't have to analyze this, just tell yourself, yes they could have done better, and let it go. You are not making excuses for them, just acknowledging yes they screwed up, maybe they never apologized and never will. In your mind forgive them, think good thoughts, and let it go. Imagine letting it all go. Perhaps she feels terrible about it all and doesn't have the abilities to talk to you about it or the ability to apologize. Sometimes a way of apologizing is doing something nice for that person. Except that and move on.
