Can I delete pics from my camera card on the computer?

| When I first started using a digital camera I tried to delete an image from my computer, and it wasn't possible. At the time, I was using an Olympus photo program. I switched to Photoshop not long after that, but I never attempted to delete another one because I was afraid of screwing it up.
So.......if I have my SD card in a card reader and have Photoshop and its Bridge on my monitor, can I delete unwanted images from there?
Thanks!

| I have a Canon and can delete images on the card with my computer. I never downloaded any of Canon's software. I think a Microsoft window comes up when I open the card and there is an option to delete the images. |

| You are supposed to load all saved pictures to the computer and then reformat the disc in the camera. Don't use the card for a permanent storage device for your saved pictures. |

| A long time ago, I read you can do that..but it leaves "fragments" on your card that would eventually cause a problem. Do what Sushipup said..save them to your computer and reformat the card. |

| sushipup, why not? one of my friends keeps his pictures on the cards. He says, they are a safer storage than CD's, and we all know, computers can crash, and you do want a back up someplace. Moni |

| I don't save pictures on my cards; I save them on my hard drive and on DVDs. But I shoot a lot of pictures and delete most of them. I like to clean these unwanted images off my card, and then save the contents of the card to a DVD. The way I'm doing it now, I delete in the camera. I would think camera cards would be an acceptable method of storing images --if it weren't such an expensive method. |

| Cards will deteriorate or get damaged, apparently, as will DVD's. And suppose your hard disc crashes and your computer is toast? My professional photographer friend says to make the DVD's, and also have an off-site back-up, an online source. |

Susan - Yes, you can. Go to My Computer. Click on the drive with your card. Select the pictures you want to delete and on the left side will be an "delete" option to click on. P.S. I very much enjoy your blog! |

| I take the memory card out of my digital camera and insert in a USB memory card reader. All the files open on my computer and I decide what to keep, move or delete. I find this easier than hooking the camera up to the computer. However, when I take the memory card out of my Blackberry, I cannot delete anything, it’s read only. Here is the memory card reader I use.

I do it on all my cameras after I upload the pics to computer I check them out that they are on the computer and what they look lik then I go back to the drive where the camera is and delete all items then I right click on the drive and eject. Tht way it cleans up tht drive (read tht somewhere) I end up with n empty camera disk. some times I putthe disk in the computer sometimes I upload with a cord from computer to camera works the same both ways |
