Skunk. It got my dogs. Feral cats also an issue
Comments (7)I can't believe your animal control said that - how do they think the cats ended up there to begin with? You might want to try speaking with the Humane Society, or whatever group you've got there, to see if they can help you with the cats. I love cats, and have 4 of my own, but I would draw the line at a feral cat population in my yard. Obviously, if the cat food was gone, the skunks would wander away. I found an Oklahoma animal control company that has links to feral animal rescue organizations - I hope that something here can help you. One other thought - it might be worth a look at your town ordinances about having things that attract wildlife to your yard. There are a couple people here in NJ that are having fights with their towns because their cat/bird feeding is attracting rats, snakes, skunks, and heaven knows what else. Maybe the ordinances might help get your town involved. Good luck. Here is a link that might be useful: Ok based animal control with links...See MoreMy Sebastian just got killed by 2 dogs!
Comments (10)I have never allowed my cats outside because I was scared to death that something like this would happen. We live out in a remote area where there are lots of wild animals. We do have leash laws, but no one to enforce it. Animal control was called and that is when I found out that there were two dangerous dogs in our area. But that was to late to help Sebastian. I am a member of our community committee, and we have a meeting coming up in Sept. Believe me, there will be some changes made about getting word around about these kind of issues. We have never let Sebastian out without our supervision. Then he started spraying in the house more and more(he was neutered), and we tried everything to help him overcome that. The vet had him on anti-depressents, but he just laid around and didn't even function while on them. We figured that it wasn't any life for him to just lay around when he was such a outside lover. The only way we decided to give him the best life we could was to let him out during the day and bring him in at night. He would always come when I called him home, until Wednesday night. Then Thursday night my husband went to see if he could find him hiding somewhere and found him dead on the beach. I chased off the two dogs that killed him, but little did I know that they were after my baby. Thanks for all your understanding and concern. I just wish that neighbors would be more considerate also. I just don't know what else we could have done....See MoreAlmost got attacked at the dog park
Comments (6)I have been to dog parks where the owners were neglectful of their unleashed dog. In one instance a greyhound was ripped open at the flank and had to have 80 some odd stitches. The owners of the dog who did the attacking said to just put hydrogen peroxide on it. I think the owner of the mastiff was attntive, alert and mindful of his dog as you were, it is the owner talking to another, reading, or sipping coffee with a blank look on their face which you have to watch out for. I ALWAYS hook my dog up onto a leash before we say hi to any new dog, because you just dont know how dogs are going to react to each other. One lady told me she never worries about her dog, he is not aggressive, this is the same dog which chased our car over a quarter of a mile from where she was standing not 2 weeks later, trying to get at my dog in the back seat...Dogs will be dogs, and usually things are okay, I have taken my dog to an unleashed dog park for years without incident. I might add that we spend time at the fence and wait for the other dogs to sniff, and break up any type of pack mentalitity if the dog park is fenced. These can be the worse places because a pack can corner your dog in a matter of seconds....Hope everyone is okay....See MoreMan & Dog got matching ear piercings
Comments (4)that is wrong. IMHO only a very egotistical (or possibly cruel) person would feel the need to mutilate their pet for their own flight of fancy. Also I'm quite surprised the owner found someone to do this to their dog, unless he did it himself??? Seems to me nowadays most vets are very conservative about mutilating pets for the owners whims. Many won't perform tail docking & most definitely not ear cropping. The AVMA is against it too. If I were acquainted w/the owner, I'd have a hard time not reporting him. But likely there'd be no punishment or consequences, so I guess it would be for naught. Here is a link that might be useful: American Vet. Med. Assn. Stance on docking & cropping...See Morepatti43
