Ole Joyful, frankly I'm surprised myself that I didn't have a heart attack. I knew what to do from years back when visiting friends. My young son walked into the kitchen where we were chatting with paint all over himself; turned out he'd gotten into their kids' paints in the playroom. I thought I was going to have to buy them new playroom carpeting, but they leapt into action, grabbing the shop vac and cold water. It worked great then. It also worked great when a few years later, the same son threw up all over our family room carpeting right after drinking red punch. Just make sure not to pour too much water at a time, as you don't want to make your target go further down.

Even if the Lyme test is negative, unless another cause is conclusively determined, he should probably keep taking the dox, since as Alisande mentions, the test they perform for Lyme is notorious for false negatives. Another possibility that occurs to me is that is could be some sub-cutaneous infection of a nasty bacteria. Does he live in an area that have been affected by the flooding? Or has he visited and helped out in such an area? Lastly if it starts looking much worse, and the doctors say "It must be a Brown Recluse Spider bite", that in all likelihood is a guess on their part, and most likely a wrong one since the Brown Recluse's range doesn't extend into West Virginia.

Good question! I have several kinds on my shelf, including Penzeys and one from an Indian grocery. They're all good. But McCormick, which I've used for decades, is still my favorite. I was going to order a large size from Amazon, but a couple of the reviews complained that the formulation had changed. I hope not!

Me, too, kadefol, I'm down to 2 eggs and holding on to them for a breakfast. I sure did enjoy the egg salad, it was worth using the eggs for it. Had it on rye with lettuce.
