pretty bad here. the low this morning is 83, and they expect a high of 113.

My tomatoes are done, and my peppers all have sunburned spots. Got my sprinkler going. Today is my day to be allowed watering. We are on odd and even day schedule.

Those fires sound so terrible, and to think it may be arson....just cannot understand how anyone can do that.

I heard on the radio that the police are searching for a man seen throwing a burning newspaper from his pickup truck.

I just can't imagine heat like that. I have been whining all summer about our five week stretch of 90 plus days but we only hit above 100 twice. It's ungodly and I'm afraid this is the new normal. Summer is almost over, thank heavens.

Oh, but Lily, summer lasts through September here. I ain't over by a long shot.

There are new fires, and the one down in Cleveland county is still not under control.

The wind, yesterday from the south, and now from the north, really made fighting those fires hard.

I just hope, the north wind won't start anything new. As it is now blowing in to the burned area, I hope, this means a break for the fireman.

It did cool off for the night/morning. It's only 80 degrees.

We came back to Tulsa from Dallas yesterday evening. The whole state appeared to be on fire. There were fires just about every direction you looked. We were supposed to come back throught the turnpike to Tulsa through Oklahoma City, but it was shut down at Bristol. We came across I40 and up instead. There was burned grass and some sort of structure on fire on I40. As we got into Tulsa, the sky was orange and it was raining ashes. The sun looked the color of the setting sun for several hours. Some rain showers popped up right around sunset. The smoke from the fires was so thick, we coun't tell there were storm clouds. The rain smelled like smoke. Unfortunately, I don't think the areas on fire got the rain.

We have seen a lot of live fires in the last two weeks both here and in Texas. It has been realy scary.
