From "The Record" in our second hometown's small town newspaper, it looks like the police were busy for an hour or so Monday night. Love the call at 10:57 about the bear eating pistachios! The police information officer has a pretty good sense of humor and there have been some pretty funny ones over the years. Although there are occasional serious incidents, it is usually comforting to see what keeps the local police busy. Mostly wildlife (in one form or the other).

#10:34 p.m. Officers were called to report of a bear walking in traffic in the 2400 block of Lincoln Avenue.

#10:38 p.m. Officers were called to a report of people being loud in the 1500 block of Conestoga Circle. A warning was given.

#10:55 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a cat stuck in a tree in the 600 block of Larimer Street. The cat got down before officers arrived.

#10:57 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a homeowner who discovered a bear eating pistachios in the kitchen in the 2900 block of Alpenglow Way. The bear entered through a screen window in the living room and did not want to leave. Officers used non-lethal methods to scare the bear. It jumped through another window and left.

#11:36 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear that was trying to get into a secured trash enclosure in the 3400 block of Stone Lane.

I too have a site that I check the activity on our local sheriff dept. in my condo area. Good to keep an update.

I couldn't find any current postings regarding this question and with electronics, "current" is important. I record the same shows each day from my DVR (ReplayTV). I subscribe to Comcast cable. I want to record these same shows to a DVD so I can take it with me to play on a DVD Player occasionally. Most of them seem to require connecting it to a PC afterwards to burn the DVD. I want to avoid that step. I want to be able to take out the DVD and have it immediately available for use. I was told by a Best Buy employee that what I'm looking for is the Sony RDR-GX355. It has unconversion to 1080i with an HD tuner, multi-format recording, HDMI output and one touch dubbing. It sounded like it does exactly what I want it to do. However, the reviews I've read on it have not been very good. Some of them say you can't record from HBO or other movie channels because of copyright messages and that it isn't reliable and various other "cons." I was wondering if any of you have experience with that one or any other that would work well for me. Basically, I only want to record ABC, NBC and CBS channels. And its important that it complete the recording without having to hook it up to a computer to burn it to the DVD (UNLESS THAT'S EASIER THAN IT SOUNDS). I'm basically electronically challenged so please speak English.

The first thing I would do is sell the couch bring in some swivel chairs, get a large rug and figure out what size sound pannels you are going to put on the walls.

I love it. I love wallpaper and I like how the wallpaper colors merge from room to room. But I was a bit disappointed as I thought (stupidly,) that the actual backyard was going to be included "landscape"). Owner: "I'm a chair hoarder" Jinx, I sense a gauntlet being thrown.

I made a post asking if anyone had encountered a white version of Phyllodoce empentriformis, but noone commented on it. Maybe there are references to a white one in the logs of the botanists who have studied it in the past?

It is good to keep-up Glenda! Linda, right! A cat is a cat and will get down on its on time. He was probably hiding in the bushes laughing at the humans were shining the light into the tree looking for him.

Ok, I found the classic from a couple of years ago. Jay Leno somehow found it and it was part of his Headlines' segment a few weeks after it ran. It is funny, but I can't help being concerned about the woman's mental state -- so it is kind of sad too. I like the wildlife ones better.

Ã¢ÂÂ5:38 p.m. Police were called to a report of a suspicious incident in the 2900 block of West Acres Drive, where a woman reported that she found feces in her toilet that she did not think she put there. There was no damage to the house and no other reason to believe someone had been inside the house.Ã¢ÂÂ

Neighbor, not computer person, calls me, when something suspicious is going on, for me to check and see what is on local sheriff's dispatch.

Funny! Sounds like bears are taking over.

Y'all opened my eyes. There is website which broadcasts police, just about anywhere! Nashville's broadcasting is down, but I heard Memphis. I don't speak police code, but it is interesting. Looks like you can just click on your state, then your county and then it brings up your choices. Pretty cool

That's funny about the bear, but probably not to the people nearby or in the house with it.

Most all of the police and fire communications in my area are encrypted so they aren't available to hear. You can listen to the CHP, though.
