Ideas for glass bottles from airline liquor?
Comments (6)I used insulin bottles to make small hummingbird feeders. I think the same concept can be used on small liquor bottles - cleaned good, of course - don't want any hummies flying drunk :o) Am sure if you can find a stopper that would fit the different shapes and colors would look might pretty. I've added the link to my post in the Garden Junk forum if anyone wants to have a look-see. ~ Cat Here is a link that might be useful: Small Bottles - Hummingbird Feeders...See MoreWhat Perfumes are you wearing?
Comments (82)How does Lauder sell a single bottle of Youth Dew? I truly wonder. Have never heard one person say a kind word about the stuff...ever! When I was about thirteen years old, the lifeguard at our community pool, Chris, about 18, so cute, and my "buddy," came over to me and started whispering about some ladies who were visiting the pool that day. He said, "...and one of them has on a perfume that I know must be Youth Dew! Yick! It's the worst perfume in the world. My mother was given a bottle and she wore it once, but she never will again, because she hated it, and my dad and I told her to wash it off it smelled so bad!" I do love woodsy, exotic fragrances, which I think YD is trying to be, but it misses the mark somehow. Maybe it's just too much of a good thing...no nuance or subtlety?...See MoreAny good ideas for wine corks?
Comments (43)If I was doing a ceiling, I would get some thin plywood sheets, glue to corks to them, then screw them to the ceiling, rather than trying to stick corks up there one by one like Michelangelo doing a cork version of the Sistine Chapel. It sounds cool though! I've cut them in half using a bandsaw. Clamp a piece of PVC pipe just bigger than the corks, to the saw table, with the blade centered on the outlet of the pipe. Shove corks into it and halves come out the other end....See MoreIdeas about this vase/bottle?
Comments (7)Perhaps a fired-on enamel paint? The general type is called "Mary Gregory glass" - white enameled on colored or clear transparent glass - although the typical "Mary Gregory" design is children doing stuff. To see if it's perhaps a barber's bottle, grab the neck. If it fits a your grasp, it might be. If it's too dainty or too big, it isn't one (they wouldn't buy bottles they couldn't use easily). You shook the bay rum or other scent out into your hands and applied it to the client or yourself. The lily of the valley wreath and woman's classical profile bust may have been a popular brand's logo, or it may have held lily of the valley perfumed stuff, or been one of a matched set a barber bought. I'd start looking at reference books and websites about collecting barber bottles and antique bottles, and old advertising material about hair dressing and barbers....See Morenodakgal
