I bought sweet corn today at a farm stand. It doesn't get any fresher than that. $6 /dz.

I became a sweet corn snob after my childhood in corn country. We could stop at any number of farm stands near our home for fresh picked corn. Nothing quite comes close, does it? It was many years before I would buy sweet corn from the grocery.

We only buy it from local farmers.... grocery store is not the same.

I am having sweet corn tonight for supper. Every so many miles around here you can find a corn stand. One of my co-workers stopped at a Lafferty farm stand this morning on the way to work and bought a dozen corn she shared with us. I have 3 in cooking in the microwave as I speak. Just perfect!

I pick it right out of the field!

The picnic bugs have been thick this year. I always find a few - but this year they are epic ... and this is NOT organic corn! LOL

We have a wonderful Farmer's Market, and you drive by the trucks, from area farms, and purchase.

But with the onslaught of neighborhood Farmer's Markets, the farm trucks don't go to the older one, like they used to, as it's more of a drive.
