We're going to have BLTs with a thick sliced brown sugar bacon and tomatoes that I haven't even gone out to pick, yet!

Wow, I figure if you're in SE CT you're in warmer zone than we are (we used to live in Salem/Niantic/Norwich 20yrs ago, didn't garden then). Sounds like we had about the same temps. Been dry here too - hope we get some rain today (well, I don't need it yet, but hope you get some). Hope your beets and turnips had minor damage to the leaves and recover. Lettuce is easy to replant. Our blueberries are budding like crazy, but looked OK (as far as I could tell) yesterday. Some of the stawberries don't look so good, but that's from all winter, not just this week. They're wild/alpine so we'll see how they fare. No flowers on those yet here thank goodness.

I had a bucket of water that I was using to hold down some blankets, and no ice there. But in another part of my yard where I had additional water (from the Sunday rain), there was ice. So I guess we dipped long enough for that kind of ice formation in different parts of the yard or metroplex. Hope everyone's plants did well. I did try the soda bottle as a protection and it was interesting to see the condensation on the inside of the bottle. Hope the temps were a little warmer in there for the plants. I'll see in the next few days if any leaves or stalks got affected. As for the porous part, it's not that it needs to be porous for wind or moisture. It's for the plants to breathe. Otherwise, it's like putting us in a room where we are breathing out more and more carbon dioxide without getting in enough oxygen. One night may be OK, but if it was a longer cold front and people left their plants like this, even in the day time, for several days, it would eventually affect the plant even if it was staying warmer under that material.

I tape the all the the CBS shows. I watch Chuck then I watch the ABC shows from 9 pm. I watched Heroes faithfully until this season and can't seem to get into it anymore. I only watch the results show of Dancing with the Stars. Most of the time I will start to do something and miss most of the shows I plan to watch. LOL Anne

Today I had a burger at a local place I've never been to before, it was pretty good. I've been craving my black bean soft taco recipe all week though so I made them yesterday with homemade tortillas and they hit the spot! Mhmmmm good! I feel like a Campbell's commercial! ;) Slow cooked black beans with seasonings in the Crock-Pot all day, make the rice, combine rice and beans with some homemade salsa, pile on a homemade tortilla with shredded cheese, sour cream and pico if you like...delicious!

Played bridge today, followed by a luncheon so I just made some corn, tomato and avocado salad. Twas very refreshing.

After up early and having two crowns installed at my dentists, this afternoon we went to a nursery I like (I have a steep hillside to replant still in our garden renovations), then to Costco to keep an appointment for tires on the truck. Took a cooler and I shopped Costco - They didn't finish with the truck until 6:30 and we were still an hour from home.

I had an Asian Chicken salad sandwich and bottle of water, DH a ham and swiss - Panera to go, we ate in the truck driving back ;)

Leftovers from our bbq with the neighbors last night, ribs, boiled red potatoes, roasted corn on the cob and watermelon.
