Breakfast for Dinner.....What are You Having?

Today was a cool (18C) overcast day with intermittent rain. The heat and humidity are coming back in for the weekend and next week. I much prefer the cool temps!

I made French toast topped with sliced apples simmered in a butter and brown sugar sauce. Sausages on the side. Delicious!

when we do it's the basics...turkey bacon fried/scrambled and toast...and it's on Thursdays...which is also our pasta night...

Boy, without even planning it, I fell right in with the plan. I had breakfast for dinner too. Ham, over easy eggs, whole wheat toast, and a glass of milk.

Oh Carol those are really cute pancakes! Today I had a piece left over from my pizza making yesterday....mine was a vegetable tart, a recipe from Mallorca where I used to live. It's a sort of a ratatouille tart and tastes even better the next day. I usually have some whole grain toast, fruit or yoghurt and a black coffee but it's nice to eat something different for a change. SharonCb

Nothing. After a couple of hours' sleep, I was in the garden a bit before 8 (it rained some last night, but not muddy) picking regular peas and edible-pod ones, green beans and lettuce to take to the two churches that I attend, one at ten and the other at 10:30. After clean-up ... it was just 11 when I got out of here, dropped the tray of veggies at the 10:30 one just before service was over, got to the second just before 11:30, when not only service but much of coffee hour was over, with some heading home. So ... I had coffee and a few cookies just before noon. Canadians will know what "Tim-bits" are ... (Tim Hortons, nation-wide popular coffee house, carries donut holes, calls them "Tim-bits" which one can purchase as singles, by the few or by the box) ... well ... I've found that they have donut-holes at one No Frills store in town (and a couple don't seem to) so I bought a box and had several with milk when I returned home in the early afternoon. Did someone say, "Not very balanced and nutritious a diet, that"? Guilty as charged, I guess. A few days ago I put three heaping tablespoons of Cream of Wheat into a bowl with water and salt, microwaved it for 2? 3? min. Not enough water, I guess - usually it cooks around the edge, still gruelly in the middle, needs a stir and another shot. This time, it was thick and dry. It took me several minutes, after adding water, of gentle, stroking stirring to get the lumps cleared out. We've had a rainy, cool spring and start of summer, with crops delayed. I was pleased the other day to see that my turnips were growing well, but when friend and I looked at them today, some tops were drooping - they were rotting at the top. Little black bugs had got into them and several were soft and mushy inside, largely eaten away. We have a gardening guru on phone-in over province-wide section of national radio every Monday, but tomorrow's a holiday so he may be in on Tuesday, so I'll try to get through to find out what I need do to combat the little devils. Also, almost didn't plant cucumbers, as for three years their leaves have turned golden, then go brown and crispy - from blight, they say - just after flowering, when fruit is getting started ... but put some in ... and I see that the leaves of one hill are getting that golden cast, again. We woke up to a light rain this morning. It's got a nip in the air and got up to 62 degrees. We liked it! :0) Very hearty and I put hot sauce over mine. 3 lbs potatoes, diced(small) & boiled, skins on 1 lb bulk breakfast sausage 1 cup diced raw onion 6 eggs 1 Tbl flour 1/2 lb grated cheddar cheese Seasoning salt & pepper to taste Fry the sausage, drain any grease off & add onions in a skillet until fully cooked. Press the potatoes into a 13 x 9 casserole dish. Spoon the sausage mixture over the potatoes. In a large mixing bowl whisk eggs, flour, salt & pepper. Pour over casserole, distribute the grated cheese over the top. Cover with foil. Bake 1 hour @ 400 degrees. This post was edited by nicole__ on Wed, Sep 10, 14 at 21:10

Yay! Robert just got home and I asked him if he felt like having breakfast and he is always really enthusiastic about that! Ours will be buckwheat pancakes, ham sausage patties, and fresh fruit.

I like breakfast for supper too! However, I had a peanut butter sandwich, a glass of milk and a Little Debbie Zebra cake. Shopped for groceries today. Lunch was at Fazoli's. Nice day out again.

I like breakfast for dinner too! We haven't done that in a long time! We have no kind of breakfast meat right now; we used the last yesterday morning. In fact, DH used the sandwich ham to cook in a scramble this morning.

DH ate early. He was supposed to leave to go out of town on business but has opted to get up really early in the morning instead. I'm having a Healthy Choice Crustless Chicken Pot Pie. It's quite tasty. Trying to somewhat stick to my diet.

No breakfast foods after 6:30am. Maybe that's why I'm reluctant to make Quiche, it's nothing but a baked Omlette? More disgusting 70ÃÂ° for July. Staying indoors with the windows nailed shut. What happened to the comfy 80 & 90's? Anyhow, leftover stir fry with chow mein noodles, this time adding a spoonful of rice., Some sliced cucumbers/onions soaked in oil/vinegar. I smell some ice cream too. And one of those big candy bars. Feasting is simple, let's eat.

Dessert for dinner hereÃ¢ÂÂ¦..DH and I went out for Chinese at lunch. We brought half home but I'm saving mine for tomorrow. I just finished a bowl of watermelon. YUM.

Sounds delicious Jasdip. I often have breakfast for dinner. Homemade blueberry pancakes or French toast. Never thought to add an apple topping so will try that next time. When I usually cook peameal bacon it is always for dinner. My favourite breakfast though is fresh sliced peaches eaten with buttered toast preferably Rudolphs premium sandwich bread toasted. Today for a late lunch or dinner I made sliced tomatoes on toast topped with old cheddar and broiled until the cheese melted. Yummy

Georgysmom, we have a dinner date with a friend for Chinese on Sat. We're looking forward to it.

LOL Ellen. Your dinner sounds good. Nice and simple. Hubby loves, loves hotdogs, and just recently he discovered that he likes sauerkraut! At least the way I make it, which is the sauerkraut cooked with the sausages, not steamed separately.

Sue, you had a busy day as usual.

Lots of fresh veggies from the garden means a saute. Onions, garlic scapes, carrots, summer squash, green pepper - all from the garden. Supplemented by tomato and cabbage from the store. I kicked it up a notch using some Hot Spanish Paprika. That meant chocolate pudding for the finale.

Still 10 degrees cooler than average. Not bad - the power bill should be reasonable.

Salad of lettuces, cucumber, red pepper and red onion with a slice of cheese pizza. I really want another slice of pizza, but I know I'll be miserable tonight if I give into temptation.

Being by myself now I can eat what I want and when I want, but due try to stay on a schedule for me.
I fix waffles, freeze what I don't eat and fix them later usually for supper, along with beef sausages and maybe a egg.
