| I didn't even stick my head out the door today. I guess I'm a homebody, 'cause I don't like having to go someplace every single day. Rather just stay in with the A/C.
Tonight we're having ribs, black bean and rice salad and fresh raspberries with a splash of cream. The salad is a new recipe I tried and it's very good. What are you having for dinner tonight? |
Follow-Up Postings:
| When we were at my aunt's on Sunday she sent home the rest of the spaghetti and meatballs. So we're having that tonite with some bread, and watermelon and cantaloupe. Patti, you had asked about my tabbouleh. It's eaten at room temperature/cold. Made with quinoa, it's definitely a keeper for us. I wouldn't care for it, made with traditional barley. |

| Tonight I'm making shrimp fried rice to go along with the hot and sour soup I picked up yesterday. Care to share the black beans and rice salad. Patti? |

| We got a nice rain early this morning and then another rain before noon. Amber, Alyssa and I did our weekly shopping. No bargains really. I did buy a rain gauge so now I can see how much rain we get. Lunch was from Steak and Shake. Alyssa slept through lunch. I had the Wisconsin Buttery burger and fries and a great big unsweetened iced tea. No supper for me tonight. It is very humid out. Sue in Central Indiana |

| I could easily and gladly eat either of the two meals listed above. Sounds so good. My sister and I finally got to go to the roadside stand we both like so well. I got their first picking of yellow tomatoes....only 5 little ones but they'll be great. Several lbs of green beans. I'll cook them up tomorrow and freeze the cooked beans. I prefer to do that than to freeze them raw. Also got corn on the cob, and about 10 of their own peaches. We went a few other places, and out to eat. I had the gal give me a to go box right up front and put half in it. Had it for my supper......swiss cheese/ mushroom burger, along with fair's style french fries. Shirley |
| Shirley, when I know the servings are going to be large I ask them to split it in the kitchen. Much neater than trying to half it in your plate and sometimes you get extra bread, sauce etc. I do take home often. |
| Jasdip, that sure was nice of your aunt. I even like leftover spaghetti cold. Yum! Georgysmom, I'll put the salad recipe on the "I'll share my recipes" thread tomorrow. (After so many years, I'm just about out of recipes to share.) It's one of those things you could put just about whatever you want to in it. I think cucumbers would be good. Bet that fried rice was just too good! Sue, you and Amber must've wore little Alyssa out. LOL! I agree, there are no bargains in the stores and it will just get worse because of the drought the mid-west has felt this summer. You know you feed the rest of us, right? Glad you got some rain. Shirley, I wish I could remember to ask for the box in advance. I'm usually starving at the time, even though I know I can't eat a whole hamburger. Glad you got those green beans. I foresee many good meals ahead for you. Jude, I just about always have take home. And it's a good idea to let them dish it up before serving. Once Harry and I were eating lunch and I ordered a hamburger and fries and asked that they not give me so many fries. They told me they came in pre-measured amounts and couldn't change it. Man, what a waste. Hey, what'd you have for dinner? |
| We had BLTs tonight. Just right for me. Patti, I have never eaten a whole order of french fries and thus I almost never order them. The waste does bother me too. |
| Bobby and Amber are coming to dinner. We are having kielbasa, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad. |
| Pam, I don't order them either, but they usually just come with it around here. I don't really like them. Nita, what?? No beets??? ;-) It must seem weird to have Bobby as a "guest". He'll sure like your dinner!! |
