Hi Rita I'm having the same trouble with my container 'maters splitting from too much rain. The plants are still going and I need a step ladder to get up to check for hornworms on the new growth. I was shocked to see the new baby tomatoes setting way up there! Hi, Maggie! I have to harvest early, too, and ripen on the window sill. I am wondering about what the lime is for - and how do you apply it . . .sprinkled on the top of the soil? Does that prevent splitting? Here's a shot of my big yellow Kellogg's from earlier in the month during the drought. So far the rains haven't caused splitting in these, but they take SO long to ripen. I think I will grow them again next year since they are so delicious! Susie

Hey Dewaine, Thanks for the interesting pointers on why you trim your bottom leaves. Makes perfect sence...and I will follow your lead next season. Usually when I have some bottom leaves during the normal growing season, I still will trim the leaves that don't look good to me... and I have noticed that they do harden up quicker when I trim...so I am kind on the same track (and now I have a better reason to do so) Thank you for the compliments on my trees!!! I love all of my trees and I try to take care of them as best as I can!!! They really have responded well this season...which makes me very happy!!! You have some beauties yourself!!! My celadine bloomed after rooting, them after the new branches grew a little they also have inflos...you had always said that they were fast bloomers!!! You are so right!!! They all seen to like the conditions here in VB and I also have to thank people like you for all of the help that you give to everyone...we really listen!!! Thank you Bill... Kms2....My little weiner dog (pepper) loves it outside and the first thing he does is to look for the hottest place on the deck...he actually will turn over from side to side to take advantage of all of the different ways to heat up his whole body...never seen anything like it...he's a great dog...thanks for the compliment on my lil pepper!!! Last night was our killer freeze for our GH this year! In the spring - when we cover the small plants with a frost blanket - we can protect the plants with outside temps as low as -10 degrees - without much heat. But in the fall - when the plants are large and close to the polycarbonate - the GH only protects them to an outside temp of about 20 degrees. It is also a function of how long during the night the freezing temps remain - it is cold for a much shorter period in the spring but lasts most of the night in the fall. Last night it was -6 degrees - a definite end to the season without heating the GH. We did pick our last produce before the fatal freeze though - great GH year!! Fresh tomatoes off the vine in Wyoming in the middle of November in zone 3 without heat - not bad - all things considered?!

I joined that Windsor group on Facebook but it got boring after awhile when the same questions by newcomers were asked over and over and over. I can't count how many times I have seen the question "does anyone remember the Red Barn" LOL there were only so many memorable places in Windsor and LOL to me the Red Barn was not one of them. I always thought they had the worst hamburgers so never frequented there. I missed you too Sue and posting at the KT - so many new faces which is great! I worked 2 elections a Federal and a Provincial Election from March - October. I hadn't worked for Elections Ontario in years always having worked for Elections Canada but they asked myself and some of my co-workers to come work for them in the Returning Office since they were starting out with a new crew with not much experience. We have had so many elections over the last few years because of Minority Governments we finally have fixed election dates so there shouldn't be an election for either Government for 4 years. Good for the country, not good for those of us who love to work the elections. Life is good right now even though I am still dealing with the loss of my sister. I shed a few tears yesterday thinking she won't be here this Christmas and how happy I was to be able to share it with her last Christmas when I almost went away instead. I still can't believe Lizzie is gone. I even went to call her one day and as I dialed her number I remembered. My Christmas memories are mostly of Lizzie so this year will be different. LOL anyone want to buy a house -$325,000 - you would do me a great favour. Hahahaha my witchy nasty neighbour has her house up for sale. Yay for me. Can't happen soon enough but I fear with that asking price that house will never be sold. Darn! I think a party will be held on the block when she moves away and I will be the first one out on the street dancing!
