Been craving a grilled cheese on rye with bologna. So that's what I had! Delicious!

Fried ground beef with mushrooms and onions over mashed potatoes and steamed corn on the cob.

Beef chimichangas, smothered in green chile sauce, topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato and sour cream.

The ridiculous chill continues, and the last weekend of July will be for crap. Never think of a vacation this time of year, but would love to be on a plane right now heading to anywhere the temp is 90-100. Happy Hour is behind closed doors & windows again. Supper has been forced to have HOT SOUP n' sammich.

Coolish temps today, 72-ish degrees and sunny. I love it!

Didn't take anything out of the freezer, so it was just pasta with olive oil, garlic and red pepper flakes. I'll probably have some crackers and cheese or cereal later though.

So crazy hot and humid here, went to lunch with friends and had to come home shower again and laid on the bed to cool off under the fans, that turned into an unplanned nap.

Tonight I am boiling baby red potatoes, grilled sausages on a stick, salad and I bought fresh baked beer bread at the restaurant we had lunch at, it was yummy.

Egg salad on a pretzel roll.

Potato salad and sliced tomatoes and of course... a great big huge enormous icy cold Coke !

I've been marinating some giant portobellos to put on the grill shortly. Will top them with a thick slice of mozzarella, fresh basil, balsamic vinegar. I made a bowl of "southern caviar" earlier, which will be good with the 'shrooms, I think.

OF, you sure do turn into a grouchy-face when there's a chill in the air, lol. I'll cross my fingers for many more days of hot, sunny summer for you.

I'm a fall and winter lover. Sure wish some of that chilliness would come out here to hot California. For me the most depressing words every year are "The first day of summer". UGH ! I actually PRAY for an early and rainy fall.

DH got us a pizza. It's from one of our favorite restaurants, but it's way too salty and not very good tonight. I didn't eat much of it, so I've got to figure something else out. Probably I'll just fix myself a protein smoothie.

I agree with Rhizo, about OF's grouchiness with the cooler summer. I love it, this is my kind of summer. We've had a couple or 3 days in a row of ugly hot and humid temps then a few days of cool. I can't handle long stretches of hot.

I'm a fall and winter gal.

Nicole: Leave off the sour cream, and that would be an excellent dish. I looked at the pictures on your link. Looks good.

Old Fixer: I'm sorry you aren't enjoying the cool down. I hope you at least enjoyed your hot soup.

Jasdip: I'd have to add some meat sauce to the pasta. Have to have my protein. Keep on enjoying the weather.

Georgysmom: I haven't tried a pretzel roll but with egg salad on, I'd no doubt like it.

Near 100 degrees in Nor Cal today. Too hot to cook, so I made Caesar dressing for a yummy and refreshing salad. German chocolate cake ice cream for dessert. More hot weather for the next week. I'd happily trade places with you old fixer!

I cleaned a lot of green beans today that Cheryl and I picked last evening out of our garden. I fixed a big pot of them for supper and later put some biscuits on top to steam. With that I had made a large pan of pasta bake. After we ate, Cheryl and I took green beans, a can of biscuits and the pasta bake to Amber and Mike's for their supper. We rode on the big rig.
We were not back long when it was decided we were to go back and bring Miss Alyssa here as she wanted to help round up the hens for their first night's stay in their new pink chicken house. She helped and she petted each and every one, all 15 of them. I am tired and ready to go to bed.

Wish I could make the rounds to those having 100ð!! Put out a lawn chair in the sun and I'll bring the beer. It's a long wait for the best season of the year with anticipation of bright warm sun. Summer is too short as it is, and losing precious days to enjoy the outdoors (especially the beach) is not welcome. It brings a snicker when people here report HOT HOT 80's. For those who want winter, I've never had a knock on the door yet. The shovel is always ready at 5am to remove 18" of snow and the winds are howling at 50 below zero.
