Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove?

Did anyone watch this on the Hallmark Channel? It was on Saturday night, and is based on the Debbie Macomber book series.

Even though I really don't like Andie McDowell as an actress, I thought I'd give it a try, as I LOVED the books (a series of about 12 books).

I thought the TV show was AWFUL!!!!!!!!!! So bad, in fact, that I won't watch any more of the shows.

I did not watch it, but was thinking of it~~I like her books also. Now I do not think I will waste by TV watching time on it~~Thanks for the heads up, Ellen.

I'm just the opposite. Wasn't planning on watching but now I have to to see how bad it really is. LOL What the heck, there's nothing really good on T.V. anyway.

Maryanne, Im guilty as charged; I scanned over the posts but did not see where you had posted. Wow, we are a gabby bunch of ladies; I cant believe how fast the posts add up, and I am so glad you liked the labels. I love mine, because I put the name of the plant on both sides and if one side fades I can just pop it out and see what the name of the plant is. You might say I over kill when I tag plants, after losing so many tags over the years, I now bury a small tag with the plant also. The worse thing I have to do is dig it up to see what it is. Hey, I just want you to know I did have a box of candy, for both you and Janell but forgot to put it in. Hubby says it tasted good! I've read - and throughly enjoyed - the Blossom Street & Cedar Cove series. Excellent! On a waiting list for 20 Wishes....based on the number of people ahead of me, I expect to get it late August! :-/ Shirley,Goodness, & Mercy was funny. Go to debbie macomber(dot)com for a printable listing of her books. The only ones I've not been able to 'get into' was the Navy series. Don't know why...just the way it was. I'll have to keep an eye open for Changing Habits and Someday Soon. If it's Macomber, I'll read it!

I have just finished reading an amazing book. I say amazing because I grew up with the author. We were friends all through Jr. and Sr. High. She even sang at my wedding. We lost touch until last year. She told me that she had done some writing but last week I received an autographed book from her. ""Anne Merrill, a reluctant psychic, becomes an OSS agent in World War II and soon finds herself not only fighting the regular war but, also, a psychic war with her powerful, psychic father, Albert. He and the worldwide, ancient, secret society, the Chhayas Society (Shadows Society), are using psychic powers along with earth forces that magnify those powers to assist the Nazis." It was really a good read. I am proud of her and the book.

Caution- I don't want to burst your bubble and I know we all have different tastes, so stop reading if you don't want to hear anything negative about the show. We've watched both seasons and I have to say, it's no Waltons or Little House. I really wanted to like this show, and I continued to watch it, hoping it would get better, but the scripts are pretty weak, in my opinion, and the acting is so-so, but the constant angst is annoying and seems forced. Everyone has angst in every episode, it's like the writers don't want anyone to have a happy, smooth life, ever, or if they are happy in THIS episode, just wait, we'll kill that happiness off in the next one. The scenery is beautiful. The actress who plays Grace is fantastic, I think, and as cute as a button. She steals the show. And I enjoy when the judge when is actually on the bench and trying to get people to compromise and do the right thing without her having to getting too heavy handed, or when she solves a problem for 2 opposing groups. Season 2 really focuses on the judge's daughter and she just seems to skate thru the motions, I can't force myself to care about her at all. And all the bad decisions (and there are a lot of them, constantly) that are made by the characters are so predictable. I hope the writers get it together or it's going to become a big negative soap opera. All that said, maybe my expectations are too high for a show like this. Well I watched it and I also did not like it. I too have read all the books in the series. I couldn't wait for the next one to come out. But this show wasn't what I thought it would be. I did like the person who played Jack but wasn't too sure about the actress who played Olivia. I felt that the actors who played the younger characters were just to young looking to me. I guess its just me. I wanted this show to be wonderful as the books were. I love Debbie Macomber. I buy everything she writes. Some are reissues which makes me angry. As I probably have the originals in my basement. Mary

I watched it as well. It was ok and I will give it another chance however if Andie McDowell doesn't stop giggling like a school girl (she's playing a judge for crying out loud!) I will stop watching it.

can't remember the other book 10-15 years ago that was soooo bad! it takes a really GOOD script writer to convert a book to a 2 hr movie...lets face it, they are mass producing these movies...lay you odds it was filmed in 6 weeks or less...often the authors have no say, but a healthy check!

I watched it, it was enjoyable but kinda draggy. I will watch it next week and see if it gets better. I just loved the scenery.

I liked it but haven't read the books. I agree her giggling was a little annoying.
