| Andy passed at 86.
Now everybody, let's whistle the theme song for The Andy Griffith Show. |
Follow-Up Postings:
| He was always one of my favorites. RIP Andy. |

| Ritz Crackers will never taste the same. |

| While I was in the pizza parlor today I heard the whistling, looked up and saw Andy and Opie at the old fishing hole on the TV. Couldn't hear the newscaster but my first thought was he had died. I loved everything I saw him in. Can't say that about all actors. |

| Mom (85 years old) has watched every episode of the Andy Griffith show at least a dozen times, but every time it's on, she's watching them again. She (as we all should IMO) appreciates the values portrayed in those old shows and the lack of the many curse words now commonplace on television today. We will miss you, Mr. Griffith. RIP. |
| I feel saddened by his passing. His show is one of my special needs sister's favorite. I hope no one tells her he's gone. She doesn't need to know. Shirley |
| Waaaaa!! I think he was my all-time favorite actor. This makes me so sad. |
| One of a kind. One of the last of the oldies on TV. |
| SO is trying to teach his African Grey parrot to whistle that tune. She'll whistle a couple of notes then say, "That's Andy Griffith." I feel for the kids that didn't grow up with Andy. Sponge Bob just isn't the same. |
| RIP. I hope TVLand, Hallmark, some network I get, will do a tribute to him. Andy of Mayberry and Matlock. |
| One of my favorites, too. And he looked a lot like my Dad, so I really had to get some crying out of my system. |
| I liked him a lot. He seemed like a genuinely nice person, as did everyone in the Mayberry cast. You sure don't find that much today. Yes, I've been whistling the tune all day, too. I liked Matlock, too. |
| He was quite an actor-I remember seeing him in a serious dramatic part, he was in A Face in the Crowd, and (my preference) in comedies-No Time for Sergeants, others. He'll be missed-he gave us a lot of good-hearted chuckles and moral lessons on Andy of Mayberry.A lot of the characters were based on his real neighbors and family growing up in Mount Airy NC. |
| I was never into "Mayberry", but where Griffith did show his acting chops was in the 1950ties movie,"A Face in the Crowd". Not a typical Andy Griffith role, but Oh So Good, even though he was quite unlikeable in his character. |
| He WAS a good serious actor too, but always will be known for his AG show. I guess they're all gone but Ron Howard and Jim Nabors. |
| Remember Andy's first girlfriend? Elinor Donahue is still alive and still acting. I remember her from Father Knows Best. She was also in Pretty Woman. Ernest T. Bass (Howard Morris) has also passed on. |
| RIP Andy! He did live a good long life IMO |
| Here is something from Andy you might enjoy Andy Griffith's stand-up act about football still hilarious nearly 60 years later |

| I was so saddened to hear of his death, he is/was such a "wonderful" actor. One of the great guys who has now passed. I agree, how sad it is that these generations will not know the values he gave. One of my very favorite songs/videos is "Waitin on a Woman" by Brad Paisley. It is the last time I saw Andy Griffin and it soooo suited him. R.I.P. Andy....you will be missed dearly. |

| Andy Griffith, my favorite. I shall miss him. Many people do not remember that Andy Griffith was first a college professor of english. He began developing routines to enliven his class and to hold interest. The routines were complete with a country bumpkin dialect. These routines were hugely successful and it was an easy step to slip from the campus to an entertainment career. |
