Yes we all love them!!! I just hate all the long lines you have to wait in..I can't ride them anymore due to my back, but I still remember the wind rushing through my hair...the thrill of the climb to the apex of the coaster and then the rush of adrenalin as you go over the top...

The first roller coaster I ever rode was when a youngster at Cedar Point. I was a terrible acrophobe at the time (thanks, Mom) and could only be coerced to board the ride by my older cousin, on whom I had a ginormous crush. I rode it three times! He was THAT cute!

After that, I never hesitated riding a coaster and loved it each time....but never again did I get the same thrill as I did when riding the rails with my hunky cousin Peter.

I don't like the amusement park atmosphere anymore at all, but would absolutely love to ride a coaster if it weren't for that. :-)

My first roller coaster experience was the Cyclone at Coney Island. Don't like them, avoid them at all cost!

I've never been on a roller coaster! but I've also never been to any large amusement park with big rides like that. Doubt that I'd ever be interested in trying one regardless... I don't like heights and don't gravitate toward high-speed/high-noise-level things. :p

I grew up on the roller coasters at Cedar Point, and always loved them. Don't ride them anymore ... heart, back, neck ...

I like roller coasters, but I am not a fan of the wooden roller coasters. They hurt my back.

"Woodies" are the original shake, rattle and roll rides with sounds to add to the excitement. Today's steel giga coasters, while much bigger, are so smooth and quiet you can take a nap! But not on that first hill. The varieties are amazing. The atmosphere is still great if you go for the rides. Forget all the other crap. And lucky is the day/time for no lines, just run back and forth for re-rides. One must compare daytime vs. nite rides.

Last one for me was in '61 at Riverview. I preferred the Tunnel of Love!

I love roller coasters!! I killed "The Beast" at Kings Island Amusement Park in Ohio. Well...I didn't actually kill it -- it died at the top of the highest hill, and I was in the first car. After 1-1/2 hours in the hot sun, we had to walk down it. That was scary!!!

Later in the day, when it was repaired, I was right back on it, and rode it several times.

Sadly, I've been afraid to ride roller coasters since my back surgery.

A little touch of nostalgia.... my grandfather was an engineer and builder of the 'woodies' up an down the West Coast in the pre-1910 era. I think they are all gone now, and I didn't find that gem of family history until I started ancestry stuff. I did ride the one at SF "Playland".... long gone fun times.

I MISS Cedar Point! And those coasters .. . . .!

Our city had an amusement park with a wooden roller coaster. I could ride it with no problem, but not the tilt a whirl. It was called Joyland Park and has been closed for years. It is now being taken apart and sold off. The sign and couple of other things have been sold and will be put on display around town.

no thanks! cedar point has a new one, this year...we went once when we first moved here, but I didn't ride a thing! I have trouble riding with dh in the co truck!

I used to love them. A couple of years ago I got talked into riding one at Silver Dollar City. I blew it off thinking all they had were the simple ones. I rode one that turned me upside down and I lost my wallet. Everything was returned to me the next day but I had to go through the hassle of new credit cards.

They terrify me. :)

I was at Cedar Point on June 30th. When we were 70, my friend and I decided to drive up to Cedar Point and do the Blue Streak one more time. We did it and we were happy and sore!!! Now ten years later I had the privilege of seeing my great grandson, all 48 inches of him, ride the Blue Streak a few times with his dad! Great time, no more coasters, but I'll always like Cedar Point. It's still a beautiful park.

C-P is a great park with lots of bang for the buck, especially if you use discount admission. Looked up their new coaster. After regular park admission, you pay $25 extra to ride it! A friends little girl, who had never seen a coaster, immediately wanted to ride Magnum. She passed the height bar (on tiptoes) and got the front seat. After that, kiddyland rides were boring. Now I've got the urge to go again.

I've ridden them.....not my thing at all, but when my daughter was a kid, and we were traveling together, and we went to Disney World and later, Disney Land, I rode Space Mountain with her (and all the other rides). She loved them....me, not so much.

I ride the little coasters that don't jerk you around. I hate the ones that jerk your head around. I also don't like the giant drops. Used to be fun, not so much anymore. I love water rides better...log rides, even with the big drop and ragging river rides. There's also another ride I used to like, a boat goes over a big cliff and you make a giant splash at the bottom. It turned over at one of the parks a year or so ago, boat landed upside down on top of the people. Don't think anyone got killed but they were injured. Not sure I ever want to go on that ride again now.

In my younger days I was a dare devil and would go on any ride that was
Scary & Wild. Now in my senior years I don't do any of it anymore. Have
good memories though. :)

There was a great amusement park in the city I lived in as a youngster. I loved the roller coasters there. One was a wooden coaster and the other steel. This was in Youngstown Ohio and not too far from Cedar Point which we went to once or twice. I also remember the carousel which is long gone along with the rest of the park. Great memories. Satine

I rode many of them when I was a kid and when my kids were young. I love them. I wonder if I will ever ride one again. I have great memories of riding a wooden coaster on the boardwalk in Wildwood NJ with my father. I rode that thing over and over again. We also rode one called The Wild Mouse. You rode in individual cars painted to look like mice. My sister got stuck on it! The "mouse" she was riding in did not make it over a big hill and the car went backwards and just kept going back and forth. The next couple of mouse cars also got stuck and they all had to come down on a ladder.

We rode every coaster in Disney many years ago. My favorite was Space Mountain. We also took the kids to Hershey Park several times and rode the Sooper Dooper Looper. I guess coasters are even bigger and scarier now.

I am more afraid of anything that goes in circles like a ferris wheel or merry-go-round since going in circles makes me sick to my stomach.
