Bad storms

I am on back up power which won't last long. I have a huge tree that fell from the property behind us onto the power lines which are now down and live in the water in my back yard.
Lots of trees down lots of damage around. My husband is trying to get through to home but roads are closed and blocked.
I will check back in as soon as possible.
I think people may need prayers from the sirens I am hearing.

You all have my prayers - GOD be with you!

RE: Bad storms

Hang in there! Hope your husband makes it home safe and sound.

Horrific storms around me last night. Worst I have seen in years.

Deck right next to me had a tree fall onto theirs and another one on another building down the hill.

Lots of power outages.

RE: Bad storms

I hope things turn out well.

RE: Bvvvad storms

Hope your husband made it home ok.

RE: Bad storms

Husband made it home took a hour for a 4 mile trip. No power, they said not tonight they have more important things to fix. I have my cell phone working for now. It is going to be one hot and miserable night.

RE: Bavvvd storms

I'm primed for emergencies. Have battery personal fans for good sleeping and for travel. Good investment for traveling and emergency.

RE: Bad storms

Scary storms! Glad you're all okay.

Raven, sending prayers for you and all who are in the path of the storms. May your DH get home safely. I hope the power company has been notified, if you can get thru to them. I'm sure you already know how dangerous the water will be with the power lines in it. I hope your DH doesn't get in any of it.

Tami

Raven, I think we are pretty close to each other, luckily we have a stand by generator. I have called Centerpoint and they say they have no idea when power will be restored. Our street is always last. We have gone up to six weeks without power. We are all electric and on a well, so when we run out of propane no water or anything. This is a great hurricane drill!
Get an old plug in phone if you have a landline, they work through anything.

RE: Bad storms

Still no power, no idea when they will be able to fix it, strange thing the other side of my street has power. The power company guy came out to look last night, but they will have to send a crew out to cut the tree apart that is hung up in the line.
I am worried about the stuff in my freezers.
Yes it is a good drill, I need one of those fans. It will be worse today when the temps rise.
We do need a generator, I can hear several running around us.
The winds picked up my big swing and stand flung it across the yard totally mangled thank God it didn't come through the windows.

RE: Bad storms

That must have been one scary storm, Raven. Glad the only damage is to stuff and not you!! Hope you get power soon.

Terilyn, six weeks without power?? Lordy, no wonder you have a generator. We went 4 days a couple of times--also all electric and on septic with a well. On the third day I packed up some stuff and found a motel with running water and air :-)

RE: Bad storms

Raven, I hope they get your power restored soon. I know how miserable that is. We once lost power for 5 days (all-electric, well and septic). Fortunately, it was in September and we didn't need heat or air. But doing without water is horrible. The next time we lost power, we went to a motel.

RE: Bad storms

Oh I hope you get power back soon..not a fun experience. Be safe.

Minnie, I am almost sure she is in Houston. We are still without power this morning. More storms predicted for this afternoon.

RE: Bad storms

Here in SW. Pa. we had storms but not that severe...I just talked to my daughter in law and they were hit pretty bad but at my house, we're only 10 miles away, and had nothing.....
Hope you all are safe......

RE: Bad storms

terilyn Thanks I finally found my 6 page list from 3-14-12 and she is in the Houston area Thanks again Maybe I should post the list again for the newcomers?

RE: Bad storms

I am in the Woodland /Spring TX. area North of Houston
I am sitting here in the car with ac on at Starbucks enjoying a cold drink. I have no power still. I sure hope it will be back today if not we will be going to some place with ac, I can not take another night of no sleep from the heat.
Hubby went to work, I told him I might show up and hang out in the customer lounge and use the free wifi.
Terilyn we must be close to each other.
Do you have power yet?

 o
RE: Bad storms

We got ours back about an hour ago. We are just north of Tomball. Very close to you!

 o
RE: Bad storms

wow. I'm glad you are okay. Your home too!

I so appreciate our weather.!

 o
RE: Bad storms

I saw some power trucks go right past our street. I almost chased them down in my car! I am hoping since you got yours that is a good sign.
I pray no more stuff like yesterday at least for a while. It's going to cost me a lot to have my garden guys come clean up all the big branches and debris. I hate my nice swing was turned into a pretzel.

 o
RE: Bad storms

sorry about your swing!
our inaugural day storm a few years ago
left us without power for 7 days and it was
cold and snowy. The people across the street
from my neighborhood had their power on the NEXT
day! It was so frustrating! lol

 o
RE: Bad storms

Hi ravencajun,

If you still don't have power, go have a talk with one of the folks running generators ... maybe they'll bring one over to your place and plug in your freezer for an hour or so, once or twice a day, till the power's back.

Better'n having to trash a freezer (even partly) full of food.

ole joyful.

RE: Bad storms

Finally at about 6pm Wed we now have power. I would have kissed the guys that came out and got us going. The news just said that 12,000 are still out. I am very thankful for my power and especially my AC!!

Late last night our neighbors across the street came over and offered to run an extension cord across the road so we could have a fan, but my husband didn't think it would be safe. I would have gone for it. Very nice of them, all of them on the other side of the street had power.

 o
RE: Bad storms

The good thing is all my food is fine, the freezer meats were still solid, the ice cream is melty. The fridge was still cold too. I was surprised.

 o
RE: Bad storms

I'm glad to hear you are ok and your power is back on. My SIL lives in Austin and I guess they had some terrific winds.

 o
RE: Bad storms

Yea, glad to read your update

 o
RE: Bad storms

I would like to say a big thank you to all of you for your positive thoughts and words.
It means a lot.

 o
RE: Bad storms

Don't you just want to kiss the guys who restore the power? I'm glad you got yours back and everything was okay. I know the feeling. We were without last spring for only 29 hours but it killed most of my large koi . If my SIL hadn't run out and rented me a generator ,I would have lost the rest. You just don't appreciate power till you lose it.
