What's for Wednesday's Dinner??

Hubby and I are working the Provincial Election tomorrow from 8am to 9pm so I'm out of reach all day.

I made macaroni salad and curried egg salad for tomorrow to have with crackers. Also cut up some munchies, finger foods kind of things, fruit etc.

So tonite we had some macaroni salad with grilled sausages. Fresh pineapple for dessert.

Have fun tomorrow. I didn't know you had to take your own food.

I took a salmon patty out of the freezer. Made creamed potatoes and peas.

I bought a frozen Mediterranean pizza. That piping hot and a huge icy cold Coke and I'll be fine ! I also tried another pre-made bagged salad, sheesh are those awful. From now on I'm making my own wonderful (and organic) salads.

It looks like everyone here did better than I did tonight. Again. Eggs over easy, sausage patties, yogurt with some blueberries (from Chile, so imported which I don't usually do), toast from the loaf of bread my neighbor surprised me with. My SIL and her husband stopped and stayed long enough the pork chops I'd planned to cook weren't going to work. I had two only, so couldn't start them sooner, had nothing to offer for two extra plates. She said she had thawed a piece of salmon just big enough for two herself, but still stayed and gossiped. Longer than I would have liked. My baking neighbor is a doctor, divorced and living singly. He's teaching himself to bake bread - It's improving ;) I didn't wait for dinner and cut a piece while it was still hot from his oven, enjoyed it. I bought him a bread knife for Christmas - One afternoon last Fall he came over with a loaf of bread while I was outside working in the yard. He said he had bread for me but wanted half back, did I have a bread knife he could use ;)

It must have been a good day for soup with so many having it -- I made turkey vegetable. :) Rhizo, there isn't much that a jalapeno can't make better! :) ravencajun, where are you that you see sun???!!! I miss it! Shirley, glad you're doing better.... it sounds a lot like what my sister in Mass. said she just went through. jasdip, I'll bet the sauce is great. :) Could have been worse... BF decided to sprinkle some garlic-salt in sauce once and the wide-mouth flap opened inadvertently and dumped at least 1/4 cup. :p

Great meals as usual!!! Shirley, aren't leftovers grand? No thinking of what to cook and easy cleanup. Phyllis, it's nice to take something handy and put your own touches in it. Susan, I had to laugh at you taking yourself physically away from the kitchen to avoid eating more. I agree, the packaged meals are definitely portion-control! Pam, leftover lasagna sounds good! Especially with your snowy weather. Raven the rotisserie chickie and your sides make a great meal! Angela, your dinner sounds so good. I really like the idea of the pasta and shrimp salad. Cherryfizz your meal made my mouth water. Did you use chicken breasts?

It rained here all day so I never left the house. We had awful store bought manicotti! Thankfully, I had a nice leftover steak sandwich for lunch. Shirley, my sister in law has worked all our elections for years and they always bring their own coffee and food. Nothing is provided.

I have not been cooking at all since I have had pneumonia and not hungry and hubby was out of town. But he returns today so I fixed a big bowl of tuna salad to serve on a bed of lettuce with crackers and sliced tomatoes. That's about all I had the energy to muster up.

Well Sam is making dinner all by himself. We are having hamburger w/cheese and french fries. I know it is not that healthy, but oh so good!!!!!

I found some very large mushrooms today at a great price, so I stuffed them. My mixture uses chopped walnuts instead of cheese. They're in the oven as we speak.

Had some tasty chicken rollups with an apple slaw. The chicken was left over from last night and this 'round 2' was a hit.

Dinner out. Short rib soft taco with fig sauce on the side. SautÃÂ©ed zucchini. Then we went to an Italian bakery. I had a mini Napoleon and decaf carpaccio with whipped cream. Took home four mini desserts for mybDh and DD.

Raven, I am so sorry that you've been so ill. What misery.

Laura....I've been craving a burger but it's been raining every evening so we can't use the grill. (Don't like them any other way, darn it.) First chance, though!

Oh we like them fried in a skillet as well as on the grill. The ones in the skillet are the greasy kind that you get in diners. He fried the french fries like we like them very well done...We even toasted the buns with butter and a little garlic. I so want to go in there and fix the last burger for me for an extra breakfast. The bagel I had with Tony just didn't fill me up...
