I listen to music on my daily walks. I can't use the regular earbuds because they keep falling out, so I have the in-ear type. They don't fall out and fit well (mine came with different size buds you can change to fit your ear). Try them!

I bought beats headphones. They are expensive but they were on sale at Best buy for maybe 60.00? i can't remember. They are extremely comfortable, and I can wear them over my baseball cap that I wear in the summertime for shade protection. My only complaint is that if it is hot out, they get a little sweaty. I have to wear in ear buds for running because I don't want to ruin them.

Hmm, I don't quite understand. Aren't earbuds in-ear? Can you tell me which brand and type you're referring to? Thanks for responding, casie.

If by over the ear you mean surrounding your ear with an over the head band (like old fashioned headphones), I have two alternatives for you:

Some earbuds have over the ear lobe loops (like eyeglasses, see Skullcandy Chops plus many other brands) or bottom of the lobe clips (Sony Piiq, discontinued but available on Ebay), or

There are some buds with more ergonomically designed silicone pieces, or those (like Etymotic) with unusual shapes that can be worn comfortably without falling out.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I guess a large part of my problem is having my ear canals blocked--I feel like I'm diving under water and there is pressure in my ears, probably due to sinus issues. I do remember that the lightweight over-the-head phones one gets on an airplane are nice and light, though the sound quality is pretty lousy. But I guess at this point, I'd rather have that then pain. Thanks again.

okay I know these are in-ear earbuds, but I have to say this is the most comfortable and usable set I have ever purchased (and I have been through a lot!)
They are wireless, and stay put when I exercise. They also work with my phone to make and receive calls. (don't have to have in ear all the time...the neck piece vibrates, so it's great while I am driving)
I have owned for over a year and no problems.
I wear at work, while I am walking and also use to watch movies on ipad while on stationary bike or in bed while Jim is sleeping.

I know you said you have trouble with in-ear, one of things I don't like about most head phones is I like to leave one ear open sometimes...especially when I am walking on the road.

The LG come with multiple size buds....love, love, love this set!

My son has the most problems with headphones, especially ear buds. These, have great sound quality and feel good, according to him. And they didn't break the bank.

Beats are hard to beat! They are expensive, but really awesome. I like the smaller ones, the Solo.

I also have some GOGroove wireless headphones. They are a lot more affordable, and the wireless is SO nice. They are bluetooth - so if you have the iTouch or the newer Nano - you can just pair it with the bluetooth and you are good to go! No cords to tangle.

I have about every type of headphones and earbuds because I have a hard time with them. I am not fond of the buds but when I need super light and portable I use them, my favorite pair has the flat ribbon type cord which I like better than the flimsy cords.
I have some that go around the back of my neck, I have some over the head ones, some are blue tooth some not, I forget to charge them.
For me it depends on how I am using them, if laying down I prefer the one goes around the back of my neck (they are not buds they are smaller sized lay on the ear with foam cushion) or my earbuds. If I am sitting up in a chair I like the bigger over the head ones with the comfy cushioned over the ears speakers, and yes I do have the sweat issue also if it's hot. And of course there is not going to be any running happening lol. All of my over the head ones fold for easy storage.
The Beats are excellent headphones.

Those are the Beats I bought, in red. I remember now they were 99.99 at Best buy and not refurbished. I would hesitate to buy them refurbished, that's just me. They will be on sale again if you are interested.

I actually have bought many many things from there that were manufacturer refurbs and all were just like brand new. In some cases they were just returned and never used someone changed their mind but once opened have to go through as refurbs but they do go all through them again at the manufacturers.
I have bought a few tablets that way for excellent prices. So far I have not had a single issue.

If buying a refurb allows one to get something they otherwise couldn't afford, great. Otherwise, I'm not sure doing so is a good practice.

For those who can afford otherwise, I'd also caution against buying goods from inventory liquidator websites or stores that manufacturers use to dispose of unsaleable merchandise. There's usually a reason why such products aren't saleable through normal channels at regular prices, and that's reason enough to avoid them.
