My doctor has me taking 1200 I.U. of Calcium daily. I was using Caltrate, but have trouble swallowing them, even when I break them in half, as they seem to stick in my throat going down. I realized that Tums are composed of Calcium carbonate as well and are chewable. I'd only have to chew 4 daily to equal the 2 Caltrate horse pills I currently need. I can take my Vitamin D separately, as they are small pills which I can swallow easily. Do any of you just chew Tums for calcium instead of taking the large Calcium tablets?
