Julia--this has happened to me as well on occasion (Jewel in a Crown and The Goldilocks Effect are the usual miscreants). I just watch the pod carefully for when the visible seeds turn black and the pod starts to shrivel. I also get a weird variation on this theme: either grasshoppers or snails bore holes into the pods so that the maturing seeds are visible--I use the same wait and see on those. Seed set was difficult this year in Fredericksburg, VA--we started getting 90-100+ degree days early in June right as bloom go going and we've been pretty much rain-free that whole time (still are). But, what did set is just beginning to mature--about 10 pods so far with plenty to keep me busy through August. Horrible, horrible summer, but Substantial Evidence finally(!) set a pod.

It was very cold, windy and rainy here and I spent a lot of the day getting things re-situated from having the house tented for termite extermination. I don't mind the dead ants and the dead termites but I hate seeing the dead spiders. I did a lot of stair climbing, lifting, twisting and squatting so I got my exercise. Tomorrow I am going back to water aerobics!

Lunch was Firehouse subs, I noticed they sell their 5 gallon pickle buckets with lids for $2 each. Proceeds go to charity. Might go back and get one for my KT laundry soap. Right now I use a square kitty litter bucket.

I never used to wash new clothes until my sister got a job at QVC. She works in return goods. QVC has a very, very generous return policy, they will almost take back anything for any ridiculous reason. She tells me about some of the nasty clothes that get returned. Smelly shoes with worn soles, body odor and stains on clothes, half empty bath gel, it goes on and on. It all has to go somewhere...some get sent back to warehouse for resale, some go to outlets and some go to charity. After hearing her stories I will now and forever pre-wash all my clothes.
