Imitation cheese food. Yuk.

I was at the store last week and noticed these 'American Accent' Sandwich Slices. Very inexpensive at 87 cents a package. Should have been a red flag but unfortunately I bought several packages.
I do use American cheese, in sandwiches, melted on top of chili, etc.
I'm perfectly OK with using American in the above situations. Borden makes a very nice American cheese plus it's approved by Elsie the Cow. I know I get what I pay for, what was I thinking in picking up this brand instead of Borden's?
This 'sandwich slice' stuff was to me, abominable. When you try to melt it, it takes on the texture of what appears to be a partially dried slug. I actually couldn't eat the bowl of chili with all those yellow slugs in it.
Fortunately the dogs seem to like it (they would and I'm sure do eat dried slugs too).
I'm treating myself to a nice piece of Brie next time I go shopping just to make up for this unfortunate choice I made.
