Sharing Some Happy News

We found a dog. She will never replace our Sandy,but she sure is perfect for us.I wasn't sure if I was ready for a new dog,but Jim has been so down,with all that has been happening the past few months. I just wanted him to have something else to think of besides the Cancer and things that he can't do anymore.We have a Swap Shop here in our little city that we didn't even know about.Jim went on there yesterday and said that we were looking for a small dog.A woman called and said that her friend had one that they were looking for a home for. She is Daisy.She is part maltese,three years old,has all of her shots. She goes to the same place where we took Sandy for her shots and check ups.She even goes to the same groomer that we used. She looks like a smaller version of Sandy and she has not been off of Jim's lap since we got home. She is giving him lots of kisses and attention. She likes me too,but I think she likes Jim best. :)

Get me a Kleenex! Seriously, I'm so happy for you. Lucky Daisy to find such a loving home, and she's already bringing joy to your hearts. I know you miss Sandy and always will.

Congratulations on your pretty seedlings. Normally, I'd pass by the yellows only because there's too much overall yellow tone in our garden, but S. Green Creek is so perfect, it gets my vote today. I'm glad you are getting some nice blooms "up yonder." The extreme heat with no relief in rain has created very, very bad conditions here in the Gulf Coast area, worsened by our 2 nights per week water restrictions. I walked out to the daylily bed today after church, and it looks like a war zone. Almost every daylily looks like it is dying, or is retreating underground. This has all happened quickly within the last three days. I've never seen such a disaster among our daylilies before. Nancy

Congratulations, Donnakay!! I resolve to stop waiting for stuff to arrive and to actually have a kitchen. I plan (but not so strong as resolve) to have bi-weekly dinners for family and friends ostensibly for conviviality and to nurture relationships, but also to experiment on them as I learn to do all kinds of things with my gonzo new appliances that were just not possible with the half dead old kitchen. Cat_Mom, I had the whole recipe problem until one day I decided I'd just had it with the multiple pages of notepad paper with family recipes, and the clipped outs, and dumped them all on my desk. Turned on the TV to interesting but not very visual entertainment, and didn't get my desk back until I'd typed my way through the lot. My recipes directory as all kinds of sub-directories like a cookbook but with my own kind of categories. It makes it SO easy. I do print out ones that need specific following, and keep the print-outs in a basket in the kitchen, where they're handy to give away to those who ask, or to reuse. But when I'm planning, making shopping lists, etc., or when one gets just too grotty, I can print out a new one. I highly recommend this!! In fact, I also resolve to type up recipes that I like that are in books, because I can't always find the right one. And since I use them as a starting point usually, remembering the outcome doesn't always help (as in the bread pudding recipe didn't call for poppy seeds...so which one was it now?)

hello ladies :) lovely to hear from you all :)) i hope everyone is fine and busy painting :) or still busy spring cleaning ?? yuuuup... this IS sort of a little turning point for me... who knows i may just go into this for good. anj... i organize shows and events but the economy over here has been so bad that companies are kinda cutting down their entertainment budget ( i guess that's just fair... entertainment isn't a priority) anyway... i should be keeping this going for a while and seeing what comes out of it :) just hope that my creative juice doesn't run out so soon! you all take care :) i will have time to come in here more often now :) see ye! luthien

Ruthieg, Olive Branch is on highway 78 between Tupelo and Memphis. Actually, between Holly Springs and Memphis. I live in Tupelo now, but was born in Prentiss County, and we used to pass through Saltillo on the way to Tupelo. Building boom going on there...doesn't look the same! A Toyota plant to manufacture the Prius car is being built between Tupelo and New Albany. Everyone is very excited about it.

they're such a sweet, if frisky sometimes...a friend had 2...she had spoiled them dreadfully, lol..fed them fresh cooked chicken, and had the run of everthing...I often wonder what happen to them... she said once they were so spoiled they'd have to go with her if anything happen....

You have yourself an angel dog. God gave you your time to grieve over Sandy (the hardest part of grieving) and placed Daisey into your lives to love and spoil. She needed you and you needed her. Case closed!!! I wish you many happy times with Daisey!!!

I think that I sent a picture to Lana. I am afraid that I don't know how to post pictures.My daughter took her picture and sent it to my email. She slept with us all night.
Lisa,the Swap Shop is on our Christian Radio Station from 9 to 10. You can call and offer things for sale.Announce Garage Sales,ask for help. One woman was having a bee problem and could find no one to help her. She went on the radio and someone called back and told her to call and they would do it for free. Jim went on the radio and said that we were looking for a small dog.A woman called right back and said that she had a friend who was trying to find a home for her friends dog.The friend couldn't keep the dog because she has Cancer and is away too much.We went over and fell in love with Daisy.The lady,who was also named Sandy wouldn't take any money for her so we told her that we would make a donation to the SPCA in her honor. Also, if the friend felt up to it,she was able to visit with Daisy.

Thanks for filling us in on other parts of the story, Sandie.

If the lady isn't feeling up to visiting you, perhaps you could take Daisy to her for a short visit, sometimes, when she may be feeling up to that.

You folks know the ups and downs, how the cancer game is played.

May God's blessing fill your hearts ... and hers, as well.
